Got my badge, first timer. Are we allowed to take a quest (wife, son, relative, friend)? Going by myself but I have a cousin that lives in San Diego that wouldn't mind coming along for the ride, hate to leave him in the room. If you Sema veterans have the answer or solutions please fill me in.
Thanks Lenie

I've never brought a guest who wasn't already signed up, but I'm guessing that they won't allow you to bring guests. I've been to SEMA a few times and I've heard of them allowing someone in who didn't pay and wasn't somehow involved in the industry...unless that person could show proof of working in the industry with a business card and maybe some other form of employment ID at the shop they supposedly work for. I've heard that they scrutinize proof of employment at the registration a lot more than they do if you get signed up early online.

Maybe someone else can answer your question better.

Nope, no guests. If you have credientials as your own shop or business, you are entitled to two passes per business, one for you and one for your spouse or business associate. Both sign up as you did for sema online. You can do it at the event, but will have to wait in line to do so, still the 2 person/business limit. It's more expensive the later you apply, and by now you can only apply at the event.
Tip, registration does open the Monday before the event, go in then and there will be less of a wait. The first day, the line will be VERY LONG!!!

Dumb question but with my badge, do I still need to show ID or 2 pieces proof of employment?
Thanks

No, You need a badge and badge holder to get in. The most you might need is a driver's license if they think you are not the guy on the badge, but I've never seen them quesioned.

It used to be you got your badge in the mail, and the holder at registration. I guess to prevent you from using last year's badge. Now they send you the whole thing if you are an "alumni" I don't know if it's done that way for a newbe.

If you signed up early enough, the Newbie would get the badge in the mail...after they perform their scrutinizing. It may be too late now though. I may be off base here, but it's possible they won't be as picky this year just to get some attendance numbers in this economy.

Where did you hear about 2 person/business limit? I've never heard that before. In the last three years I've registered 6-8 people through my business, no problem.
