My wife and I had a great time yesterday at Jake's Rod Shop.

I went there to look at the 68 camaro he is selling (my new project now!) and at the end asked him for a ride in his 69.

I still can't find that passenger brake pedal!!

That car flat out handles. His suspension setup made his car handle those bumpy New England roads like it was on rails. I'm still giggling like a little kid.

Thanks, Jake!

Its great that vendors are willing to take you out for a ride. Jake seems like one heck of a guy. When do we get to hear about the specs on the new project?

Rick it was nice meeting you also, can't wait to see what you do with your new project.
No problem on the ride if we had more time you could have driven it.
I was just glad my test car has good floors, if it had not i would be repairing holes on the pass side, something to do with going 80-115 mph around the lake thru the twistys lol, with my complete g machine chassis system(front chassis, frame connectors, rear susp, rollcage) it makes the car as one, the car is so predictable, and with the tq arm rear geometry it wants to go faster then you want to push it. The no compromise Apex c6 front sub, along with the Apex rear tq arm geometry rear make the car a blast to drive and drive hard, isn't that what these cars are built to do?
stay tuned for some video and pics from my 3 track days in one week at www.nhms.com we are running the chicanes on both ends of speedway as well as the upper bowl

I'll be doing more business with you, Jake. Your shop is very clean and well arranged. Nice to see many 1st gens there! Also great to see Steve C's car in person.

What impressed me with your setup is that the car was so planted on those bumpy roads. I'm no expert but I wasn't expecting that degree of compliance - at speed :)

Thanks again - for everything.

Rick I have to agree with you, My wife and I went up last week and spent the entire week with Jake and Kelly in beautiful Maine. I am just glad we took our own car because as fast as Jake took me on the dime tour in his 69 I didnt see anything but a blurrrrr... That car is crazy fast on those winding roads. I hope he took you thru the tight right hander at the lake at full throttle like we did because I cant even begin to describe how that felt. All I could do is keep pulling down on the harness straps thinking oh my how can we possibly get any faster and it just kept climbing in speed. I looked the car over you purchased and that was a great buy I knew someone would scoop it up if they ever layed eyes on it. And about Kelly and Jake I cant say enough about their hospitality and graciousness, they took us in like family and bent their schedules so that we could all spend some quality time together. Jake even let me crank a few wrenches and that made the whole trip worth it in itself. That and he let me make the lake circuit driving his car...lol I would endure the 27 hour one way drive again for another blast past the jogging lady. lol

In the message board world, capability (it would seem) is inversely proportional to the amount of bragging taking place. The dude making the least noise is usually the top gun. So it goes with Jake and Jake's Rod Shop. His new chassis system (subframe - roll cage - torque arm rear suspension) is brilliant, but it's also the best kept secret in pro-touring.

2009 should be fun!

Jake and I discussed his ideas on suspensions late last year and I enjoy hearing these great first hand reports of how well the setups work.

But I'm not surprised!:twothumbs

I wish I had a screen caption from the first CannonbaLL run. You know the one; where the little Japanese dudes say " Nu Nu NU NU Top Secrete WeapoN" Then a rocket pops out of their car and it BlastS off!lol
Can't wait for pics!

I took a friend at work out in my powerstroke on a rainy day. It was priceless; like ya say, he was jamm'n on my passenger floor board, I had to ask what the hell are you doing; the reply " I am looking for the GD BrakeS!" I laughed and said "We don't need no stinking BrakeS!":slap:

No truer words have ever been said. Add to that the fact that he doesn't use this board like a feeding ground like some of the noise makers. That for me is a testement in itself

:worship:

Rick congrats on the car. I think its the 68 whose rendering I have as my desktop. A+

I'm blown away. I've lived in Maine all my life and always been into muscle cars and I never knew you guy's were from Maine. My bad. Do you attend any of the shows or local race events? Good to see a good pro-touring company in the area. Do you guys have a show room or is it just a working shop? Keep up the good work!
