I have a AME frame on order and am trying to find out if my current wheels will work. I know they wont be optimal but I'm hoping they will be functional until my bank account recovers. I have Budnik Fontana's in 17x8 with 245/45/17 and 4.875 backspace. I understand that 5 1/4 is recommended in an 8 inch wheel but am hoping that since I am using a 245 rather than a 275 that I will be ok. If they definitely wont work, I want to get some new wheels ordered so that I am not waiting to long after the frame gets here next month. Any ideas? Oh, and I am using Baer GT front brakes if that makes a difference.

it will work, worst case put a hub centric 3/8 wheel spacer on till you can get correct wheels

Also depends on the year, a 67 / 68 will not cup the tire like a 69 will and is less sensitive on the front space of the wheel. Also, AM likes to suck the wheels in a bit more then they might have to, so that 3/8 of a inch of to little backspace will likely be OK. You also can always run a bit more static camber to help the situation if they are out to far.

Thanks for the quick replys. I should have mentioned that this is a 69 camaro.

Well, for a 69 you DO NOT have enough backspace and will most likely have to run a lot of camber to clear the top of the fender. but in the end I think they can work.
