After seeing Jody's twin turbo beast, I want to make an LSX wall paper with shots of some of the most tricked out engines on the scene. So post your images up and lets get some car porn going...
I'll start with our new LS7 ad....

Holly cow that is nucking futs. BUT I LIKE IT! I love seeing all those NASCAR engines setting in a row. Didn't I read somewhere that GM switched engines used in NASCAR from the SB2.2 to something else? Maybe something in the LSx line?
Edit: Found it, don't think it is based on the LSx though, it is called the R07: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/16/gm-introduces-their-first-ever-purpose-built-nascar-engine/

Carl, did you match up the paint on the accessory brackets to the Magnuson? I am working on a similar engine but want the entire block and brackets done in the silver Magnuson paint.

The pics are deceiving. The accessory bracketry (PS mount, Alt mount, belt tensioner, etc.) is raw alumunum. Most of it, including the alternator, are kinda grungy. Photos make 'em look better. I'm going modern-old school so the current silver bracketry will eventually be semi-gloss black to blend in with the pullies.
Perhaps you can talk to Magnuson and find out where they have their work powdercoated and either buy a pound or two of powder or have them do the whole enchillada. I used to know who it was but the name escapes me.
It's nothing fancy. An LS1 with a GT2-3 cam, a few internal tricks, and 9-10 psi.

Nice Andy!
Did you get the pulley wrap problem fixed?
I think so, but the dyno session will give me a better idea of what's really going on. I'm hoping to get the car over to Magnuson this coming week for the tune. I just need to call Justin every 5 minutes to remind him :banghead:
I ended up getting that solid-adjustable double idler bracket from S&P that replaced my spring-loaded tensioner. With this new bracket, I was able to get the proper length belt and route the belt around the crank pulley similar to the factory setup. So, I improved the belt wrap and am able to mechanically crank down the belt tension. I'm not 100% happy with the way the bracket adjustment works (I basically need to pry the upper idler pulley up to tension the belt), but it seems to be working.
I'm seeing about 9 psi up near redline, which seems about right for my engine & pulley combo. I know my boost numbers are going to read lower (compared to a stock LS1) since my motor has ported heads, a fairly agressive cam, headers, etc. I see about 7 psi starting at 3000 rpm, which gradually increases to about 9-9.5 psi as the rpms increase. The boost is rising with rpm, not dropping anymore, so I guess that's a good thing. I was told that the 122 blowers are a little "lazy" down low and that what I'm seeing is how they operate.
It runs good with the base tune, but I know there is still a bunch of power left. As a side note, I stepped on it in 2nd gear from a 40-50 mph roll and burned off the rear 315's pretty good.
Damn, now I have to go drive it.......
Andy
CarlC
09-22-2007, 12:42 PM
Good deal. I hope that keeps it happy. I HATE dealing with junk like that.
The 122 combined with your cam may run a bit soft at low RPM but run like stink on top. John Germanson is the tuning guy. He's tuned tons of cars with EFI/blowers before he came to Magnuson.
Good luck on next week. They were very busy as of last Tuesday.

[quote=CarlC]Andy,

It's a Holley 90mm LS2 style throttle body. The pricing is very reasonable and I think they look better than most of the others on the market. Also, they are supposed to have a tappered bore for better driveability (or something like that).

I still say that is a sanded and smoothed factory bracket. I have never seen an aftermarket system that has an alternator bracket like the factory one.
just my 2 pennies, true value maybe less in this economy
Rodger
You're right the altenator bracket does look either sanded and smoothed or powder coated. I need info on the AC bracket on the other side of the engine. The reason I am so interested in it is because it is holding the AC back so that it will line up with the rest of the vette bracketry which sits closer to the engine than any other factory pieces. The closest I have seen uses Fbody brackets for the rest of the engine. I appreciate the response though Rodger.

No doubt. Have you seen the restrictors on the C6R? Might be the same, but man are they tiny. 30something mm I believe.
found it I am pretty sure. Now I just need to find out who they got it from since it is not theirs.

Here's couple of LS7's, and on the dyno, a stroker 454 cid with a ton of torque and a 650 hp 427. The sepentine drive is $2595
Working on a bitchin boosted LSX block project for a magazine article that I can't disclose at this time.

What are you guys doing with the stock EVAP setup? Looks like most of you have done away with it. Do you get that "gas vapor" smell?
oobus, I think you have something going on there but can't tell what is what...

I got one that definitely is porn. Its a 6.4 Hemi overbored to 400". Worked set of 6.1 heads and some other trick components but runs stock rockers and lifters, makes 784hp @ 7000 rpm and 656 lb ft at 5200 rpm on pump 93.
