Hi, I've been lurking around here for quite a while but I have a desision I could use some help and opinoins on.

What are the pros and cons of the Martz subframe, and the same goes for the Wayne Due.

For me the first things that tile towards Martz are a complete unit with brakes is $3,800 and I belive I wouldn't need to buy a new steering colum. Also Martz has engine plates I could buy to install a LS1/T56 (when the time is right). Another plus is they told me they could build the subframe to allow me to use wider tires at no charge, 11"+ wide.

In any case I want to install a C4 IRS from Wayne Due. I'd probally have them do the work for me since I live about 1 1/2 hrs away and won't have much time.

You nailed it, it's all about the money.

I'm happy with the Martz road race sub I got from Gary back in 1999 for my 67 Camaro, but when I see the Wayne Due stuff, I can see where the extra coin comes in.

One thing with mine was the headers were quite a chore to make work. I had to use the left side for a 1st gen, and the right side took a 2nd gen to make fit. I had to buy 2 sets of the coated Hooker supercomps. And they both needed serious tweaking even then. Looking back, I should have just gone with custom headers.

Another thing is the is the wheelbase is now 1 inch longer....which is great for stability, but the front wheels are no longer centered in the wheelwells.

Also, I would have like more caster "built in", I'm maxed out now at 2.5+

But mine was an earlier version, and I understand these "problems" have been addressed.

The Martz still was a good bargain IMO.

Oh yeah, it handles great!

Now compare the above to a car I'm building:

It's all about what you really want the car to do, and how much you want to spend.
You can get a bare frame and find the parts yourself for about the same price as a Martz if you really put in the time to hunt for parts.

What about the steering colum? Any opinoins about that?
Why would Martz make a subframe that the wheel is not centered? If this is still the case I may go with Wayne Due.

I'll be using the car as a daily, I want it to handle well and also I want to run at least a 10" wide wheel with 275's

I used an Ididit column, and joints/shaft from Borgeson. They make u-joints for almost any application. You didn't mention what year/model Chevy you're referring to.

The spindle isn't centered on mine because the power rack needs room to clear the front of the oil pan.

Same thing here, I am using an Ididit column with U-Joints. It was around $400 from Wayne.
