I like it. But I hope Holley threw in some parts or something for putting their name all over the car.

A street car without headlights? Or are they hidden somewhere else?

I'd just like to point out, that if the colors were reversed, it'd be a huge orange car with black wheels, lettering and numbers on it.... Just like the general lee.

My opinion though? The only thing this car is doing wrong is sitting too high. It should be scraping the ground.

I guess I'm not with the masses here... I think it's bad@$$! I've been wanting to do this to an early 70's Gran Torino or Monte Carlo for a few years. ...and this isn't me kissing Johnny's @$$.

Not really my cup of tea...... I can appreciate the retro vibe but I've never been a Laguna fan.

Cool idea, bad execution. I dig the vintage NASCAR inspired styling cues, but that paint/color/lettering scheme looks nothing like what you would have seen on a NASCAR track in the 70s.

It's okay, but seems unfinished somehow.

Oh, that and they still got the name wrong.

It's the grill. On a true nascar, they'd have taken the grill out, and replaced it with aluminum screen mesh. It's whats missing from the front.

I'm likin it. It's different and this hobby is long overdue for something different!

It looks unique, I kind of dig it. I wouldn't build it or own it, but I can appreciate the overall idea of the car.

The idea sounded pretty good to me but I was looking foward to an out come more like this http://www.purevisiondesign.com/rides_otr_poteet.asp or even the NASCAR tribute car that was built on Wrecks to Riches (was that the name of that show?) Oh well this is one we're not all gonna be in love with................

Here's the link to the "Legend" Mercury http://turbo.discovery.com/wrecks-to-riches/slideshows/marauder/slideshow.html
I'm really think the Pure Vision car is as good as it gets when it comes to a tribute car for the street (realizing that budget is well beyond the means of most people but focusing on the overall theme).

Whatever happened to that show, "Wrecks to Riches"?

I suppose now, no one will believe I was first to go flat paint and race car vibe (though I was thinking more road race) on a 73-77 A-body...
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/10/DSCN3386-1.jpg
Oh, well.

It got that paint in like 2003....
I really need to get going on this car. But, you know, life, kids, etc in the way.
On the plus side I had it together enough to run down the highway a few weeks ago. First time since my now 5 year old son was born. I put 15x7s back on it (it had 17x9s), which hurt. It was nice to drive it again though. Hunkins' editorial about driving the Laguna helped w motivation.

Back on focus, I like the car (Project Talladega), I would have forgone the decals, but I dig it just the same.
I'm curious to see more tech on the suspension etc! I couldn't find it on PHR's site, do you need to sign in as a member?

I love it, but I am somewhat biased, I am a fan of "vintage themed" race cars, did it with my vette, now doing a 69 "Craftsman truck" (thats if they would have done truck racing back then).
In a world of 18" - 20" billet wheels, hi tech lowered, air bagged suspension, high dollar custom interiors and cars that are beginning to look all the same, its refreshing to see a unique and relatively inexpensive hot rod, one that you dont need megabucks to build, just some imagination!. Good job.

As I said, I like the idea, but the paint scheme doesn't work for me.

Here's a sketch I did of one idea I've been tossing around as a way to get my '69 SS car on the road cheaply, using parts I already have...

It's a NASCAR tribute, but not a replica of any particular car. Sponsors are fictional, and the number is my birthday. The paint color scheme fits the era, and looks like something that would have been on a track in '69.

I like it....Different, even for a "NASCAR" looker....Reminds me of a guy I knew who bought an old Cop car, put two racing buckets and a quickie cage in it........With stock car type wheels.........

It was a poor boys "Street Stock car" for an everyday fun fantasy driver....He always smiled driving to work....

Tech?
read the magazine articles to find out how to build a "cheap" NASCAR replica for only $35k using only the best aftermarket parts that advertisers can give you or make for you.
the 86 Monte SS i just dragged home will be a NASCAR replica- but it will look like something that Dale Sr might have had towed back to the transporter after a race at Bristol in the late 80's. the left 1/4 and right fender are caved in- and the left bumper shock is pushed in, which makes the nose not want to line up properly with the fender.
all i need is a motor, 4 speed trans, and some used 15X8 stock car wheels with worn out tires.
i figure my total investment will be under $2k if i don't get any good deals, including the $650 purchase price..
maybe i'll just pull the axles, drums, and front rotors off and take them to work to get redrilled to the 5X5 bolt pattern and use those mid 80's pickup truck rally wheels with 235/70/15 tires that i've got out in the shed...

:twothumbs I agree. "Rinovation" expresses the theme and doesn't go over the top. I have no problem with the satin black. I just think if that was the direction the car was going something more along these lines would have been a lot more appealing. https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44447
