Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to respray my firebird...here is a pic, for those who don't know it too well...

Anyway, the gold striping will be staying for sure. The white is a little bit more up in the air. I want something white-ish, for sure, but am throwing around the idea of a pearl white instead of just normal white paint. Anybody got any good pics of good lookin' white cars that i can use for inspiration? If you have a paint code for it (or just know where the color came from originally) that'd be great, too.

go with a pearl at least if ur going white. white just is too plain by itself and pearl would boost it up from normal. there is so much they can do with paint now u have alot to chose from. they even have crushed glass and mirrors they r putting in the paint now to give it more sparkle. 1 thing I have never seen that I remember is a metalic white. if I have I don't remember it. they even have a 2 stage pearl now instead of a 3 stage. makes it easier for people with less spraying expierence.

I have always liked the Pearl White on my wifes '98 Lexus GS300. I will most likely use this color or something very similar on my car. You could use gold pearl to go with the stripes.

Only thing to keep in mind with pearl, is that pearl is a tri coat finish, a candy or sorts, and is VERY difficult to repair, especially when it is 3 years later and not the same guy doing the repair that painted the car the first time.
If you never think you will scratch it, or if you are a painter, pearl is for you! We used it on EmptyNest, but I can fix it (and already had to BTW, already scracthed it pretty good)
I like a clean white myself, a white, white. No eggshell or antique cast in it for me.
the original white was pretty clean whern new, but there are brighter whites yet.
Whatever you choose, try to find a factory color code for us, year, make, color code.

I agree 100%, plus any tri-coat, candy or other custom paints are gonna shoot the price to get it sprayed through the roof even if thats all you want to do. What about the White Diamond Pearl on the Cadillac I think it would look good with the darker color on your car. But I think it looks good the way it is. :6gears:

I recently had to get some touch up paint made to match the original diamond white on my '89 XR4TI. It's white white white. In fact the analysis came back something like 97% white, 2% yellow, 1% black.

Dude, I love the cameo white, but if you are dead set on going in a different direction, make sure you really compare the gold and new white together, because there is a big difference between cameo and alpine white... or even a bright white for that matter.
That is one thing that I love about your car was the color... the cameo goes great with the gold without being blinding or super contrasting.
I would also listen to what Frank has to say about the three stage whites... I know you will be driving the car, and if something were to happen (hopefully it won't) you don't want to have to deal with the headache of getting it fixed.
Call me if you need to bro....

yeah, I am leaning more and more and more toward going with cameo white again...for a white, it had a lot of color in it, but it could look pure white too, all depending on the color conditions. I wish I could find a good shot of it in the right light, that really showed off the color.

I'll put in a vote for BMW Alpine White as well. It's a very pure white with no pearl or metallic so it's fairly forgiving. Just treat it well and it'll stay brilliant. My '04 M3 is AW and I love it! Looks great accented with matte black too.
I like the lambo white26675
26676, and the cadi pearl white personaly.

With keeping the gold stripe you may not want to use too much of a pearl itll pull away from the gold in my opinion:idea:
I prefer plain white not a fan of the pearls at all. Here's a rendering I did might give you an idea.

put my vote under the more plain white column too. Seems to be a popular Euro-tuner color already and I think it's happening here too. When it's awesome paint, it's really awesome in white and if the car is clean, white is clean. It has a sort of sophistication no matter what car it's on. But I think it takes some careful planning because as some have already kinda said, it can easily be offset by some parts or secondary colors that don't work. Peals and off whites say luxury, not performance to me. Wait, I own an off white car ... DAMN it needs new paint.

Either Pearl or White. I like them both. BUT ONLY on the right car.
Depends on what shade of white. Many different shades of white out there.
