View Full Version : As expected, Barrett Jackson Vegas prices weak

Aside from a few examples, I am seeing some well documented (supposedly) and nice originals and mild customs go for much lower prices at the Vegas show these past 2 days. I think it is a sign of things to come at Scottsdale, which needs even more buyers to bid up the much larger inventory there.

some examples I saw:

67 Hemi Coronet (not original block but date code correct motor) went for $54k today. A clone of this car would sniff $100k in recent years!

an orig 64 GTO with 389 tripower and 60k orig miles went for $28k.

documented #s matching 69 Z28 for $56k. These were fetching $80-90k last couple years.

Now, a few pro-touring (resto-mods as BJ announcers like to say) cars surprisingly well I thought. A couple 69 Camaros for $83k and $88k. And a nothing special 383 powered 72 Chevelle hit $60k.
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=475 (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=475)

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=507 (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=507)

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=482 (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=482)

So, it looks like the collector/original car niche is getting hit harder than the custom/pro-touring niche to me....

Good time to be a buyer there I say!

I totally agree..........cars were going for WAY less than it cost to build them. And "original" cars seemed to suffer too.

These 2 2nd Gens went for less than the "test waters" on previous failed eBay auctions for both of these cars. Be VERY careful when deciding to sell your car at a "No Reserve" auction, like Barrett-Jackson

a couple real shockers for me were original C6 Corvette Pace cars....not replica's, thses cars were actually used in their respective races as Pace Cars.
this one went for $25,000......it is incorrectly listed as a 24 hours of LeMans pace car, when in actuality it was 24 hours at Daytona

it is appears to definately buyers market this year...............

Actually I thought the Blue 69 Coupe (number 507) did supreme money. Neither of the $80K Pro Touring cars we worth anymore then that. Neither were over the top builds.

My friend Anthony has 6 cars out there and 4 have run and all brought proper good money, but none went crazy out of the book.

I though prices were stable, but not crazy. To be honest I was worried about a possible huge haircut. I am glad to see it as strong as it is. There was some encouaraging economic indicators yesterday too pointing to a slight turn around which won;t hurt things a bit.

But it is a buyers market right now. That pertains to parts also.
