The auction starts tonight. How much do you think car prices will be down this year due to the economy? I know alot of people there probably dont have money issues, but it seemed like last year some prices were way off.

I was just checking out the early bidding and I'll be damned if Bob Johnson isn't right there on TV winning Kurt Busch's car already :drive:

I watch for the entertainment value, to see so many rich deluted idiots. Those prices are always inflated for those cars. I like watching these guys pay way too much.:lmao: Defenatly some cool cars I would love to own!

Some incredible deals last night, pennies on the dollar...expect prices to increase starting tonight.
No way I'd ever sell in a no-reserve venue...

I'd sure buy in one.
I'm guessing that the legit big dollar cars will still pull big money. The difference will, IMO, be in the 2nd and 3rd tier cars. A lot of that market was people buying with cash taken out of home equity. Less of that to be had.

Customs and Hot Rod based cars will probably suffer as when economy goes bad people go for sure things such as numbers matching quality restos.
Probably a good year to buy? If prices are down wonder how long they can hang onto the no reserve as it has to scare away a lot of quality cars.

I'm still waiting for the local ads to start turning up some good deals. So far the economy hasn't hit people hard enough...

I;m not sure but looks like prices are down about 30 to 40%. Still to high. Hemi Road runner sold for 52,000 last year it would have brought well over 100k, 1970 15,000 original Chevelle LS just sold for 65,000 last year they were 100 to 125 K.
However, the resto mods & pro touring are doing well.
I bet there are some sick consignment owners. I'm sure they agreed to consign before the stock market went to into the toilet.

A 69 Mach 1 with a 427SOHC (Cammer) brought $150k.

Fortunately the people that can afford the high prices of these cars usually aren't affected by inflation or recession....

At least if you pulled equity out to by a car a year ago ,you are making a payment on a car instead of the loss of the value of the house. Your still not getting the car for free but at least you have a car instead of a dead loss.:screwy:

I would have hated to be the one that bought SR61 last year for 150+ fees and sold it yesterday for 80k-fees. ouch but it sure would have been a fun ride to have!!!
