Any GPS Snitch owners have any feedback on the system as an added 'peace of mind' device?
Seems like a great idea - I can't secure my car as much as I would like to. Kinda stresses me out sometimes.

My buddy has one. It seems to work pretty well, but it does seem to have a lot of false alarms. I think its a nice product to have as an incremental piece of security.

A false alarm would ruin my underwear, get me a speeding ticket rushing home, and cause heart failure!!!!!
Maybe if he set the movement perimeter a little bigger he would lose the false alarms? The good thing is, even with an alarm, you can hop online and see if your car is moving or not I guess.

We use something similar in the limo business and it’s great fro tracking were the cars are at all times and also helps us dispute if a client says that were later etc. also I like the idea that I can track my car if it is stolen …. I would love to see the look on the robbers when they are surrounded by cops in the event if were to happen

If it gives you peace of mind, fine. However don't have any false hopes it will lead to recovery of your vehicle-- these GPS & cell based tracking devices will only catch an unprepared amateur, i.e. a smash-n-grab or joyride type. A pro who knows his trade will have a $40 jammer that can be purchased over the internet and it will give him a free and clear getaway and you won't get so much as a peep out of your tracking device.
However, should the jammer fail it could still get a signal out to you-- so that's at least worth a shot!

yes with this type of system there are some draw back or you can spend little more and get a true GPS tracking system in the car (like the ones we use on the limos ) that is a little harder to jam..

I have a GPS Snitch and it works great 1/2 the time when tracking the device im not sure if its because its in the trunk or what, i havent had any false alarms when someone gets into the car it will text and email for motion. My suggestion is sure try it out but still put as much and the correct insurance you can on your car.

Thanks a million, guys.
I'm more worried about somebody rolling my car out, driving it somewhere, and jacking the wheels and engine. It would be a amateur job - prety rural around here - lol.
I think it would give me peace of mind....hard to put a price on that!

Anyone know of systems like this that perhaps don't use a normal frequency that would be easy to find and jam?

Isn't it law that all new cars have a snitch in them. Something like a black box to show data in case of a wreck?
If so can those be retrofitted into older cars or is it in the ECM?

I think that is a bit different than a locator. What you are talking about is crash data - position of steering wheel, speed, throttle position, brake pedal position, ABS status etc.

I read some stuff about retrofitting on-star, and that tracking was one use. I'll have to see if I can find the info again.

Can the Onstar be blocked with a jammer? What about the RFID chips some people have in them?
Tracking is a whole big ballgame of the loss of freedom, not just the theives but yours too. Once you put it on your car they can go back and look and then arrest you for your bad behaviour. Tracking is not neccesssarily a good thing. Think about it? Fear is taking your freedoms away and people are buying it all to think they will have a better safer life without the fear of losing something valuable.
Passive devices will always stop the nonpro but a flatbed and a good story will always leave you stranded, pros are pros. What if the law decides to confiscate your car because they were tracking you going 150 mph. it's on the way and you can count on it.
