I will be purchasing wheels/ tires soon and was wondering if any of you guys are running a 275/40/17 tire mounted on a 9 1/2" wheel, and might have a close-up pic. I have run these tires on 4th gen. Camaros with 9" wheels...the bulges are flush with the rim and look ok. An extra half inch isnt much I know, but I fear the tire looking too narrow on the rim, especially with a short sidewall. I want the 275's, but most wheels I have picked out only come in 9 1/2" widths. Maybe I am just being too picky and causing unnecessary brain damage :hammer: , but if I am going to drop a hard earned $2500+ I want it to be just right. Thanks guys!

It should be just fine. That's actually the size most people run on 9.5'' wheels anyway. Actually, it should be about perfect.

actually it depends on what brand of tire you choose.
different tire manufacturers have a tendency to exagerate widths.
for instance......i had 17x9.5 wheels on my 95 Z28 and i had 275/40ZR17 Yokohama A520's which had a nice bulge once mounted on the wheels, later down the road i purchased a pair of 275/40ZR17 Kumho 712's and once they were mounted on the exact same wheels......they looked like 255/40ZR17's
so it really depends on what brand of tire you choose. :)

That's what I'm running on the back of my Mustang. Here's a couple of picture for ya. I don't have any real close up shots but this should show you what you're looking for. I think the tire fits the rim perfect. Good luck.

A 17x9 or 17x9.5 is almost perfect for a 275 tire. I'm running 275/40/17 Kumho V700's on PS Engineering 17x9 wheels on the front of my car.
