Anyone Know about the Edelbrock Pro-flo 2 for big block Chevy. it looks like a nice system with the big improvement being lap-top tuneable. Any comments would help.

Does anyone have ANY experience with any Pro-flo systems? Anyone at all? This stuff is pretty new and expensive and im wondering if Edelbrock is the right choice. Any imput at all would be helpful.:dunno:

the older system without laptop actually worked fairly well according to a couple friends who've used them, but quite limited compared to the FAST, Accel, BigStuff3, Holley type systems as far as tuning resolution.

This new stuff is still new, I have not seen the software or heard of anyone using it yet. How much is it? I know Accel and Holley have some fairly reasonable systems that are tried and true, work great.

I ran the first generation of the pro flo system on a SBC a few years back. I had the RPM heads & cam and after getting the matched chip from Edelbrock the thing ran awesome right out of the box. I made very minor tweaks and ran it like that until I sold the truck. It got great gas mileage and really I never had any problems with it.

Honestly I had much better product satisfaction than I do with my current Holley commander system.

Currently running a 1st generation pro-flow on my sbc Camaro (ZZ4). It's not as flexible as some other systems, but once a configuration is set, no reason to go back and change it unless you make engine changes.

Older brother is running one on the 454 crate in his 69 Camaro. If he hadn't taken that step, I'd probably still be on a carb.

One of the deals is to get a compadre to drive you around while adjusting it, or take a trip to the dyno. You can carry 3 programs in it and shift between them- maps for enrichent (and enleanment) variaton from nominal based on rpm @ 4 vacuum settings- personally figure you only need to tune the high vacuum setting for economy and tune the low vacuum for power.

My car gets 20+ on the trip to RTTH last month.

Edelbrock may not be the BEST choice, but I'll suggest it won't be a WRONG choice

I have one of the older ones on my 402 in my Monte, and like Twentover said it works. It does not have as many bells and whistles as the other ones out there, it does come with everything you need in one box. We got 13.4mpg on the highway and it is not tuned all the way, and that was at 80 mph the whole trip..

I had the older pro flo on my sbc. I thought that the tuning was really no too bad, Alot easier than my current FAST system. Remember the more tunibility, the more you have to know whats actually going on under the hood to get it tuned just right. I dont know any one that has the new system, I know its a considerable more amount than the old one. But the old one didnt have the option to use a lap top and you couldnt run any boost.
I actually wish the Fast system was as easy to tune as the old pro flo was. I miss it a little.

The polished system I'm interested in is about $3000. I like the laptop tuneability that it offers. I think I will get it. I don't think you can go wrong w/ Edelbrock.
