New to the forum, 1st post!!!

I have a '65 chevelle "SS" touring project I've been working on.
Mods to the car so far:
--Shaved the firewall (removed heaterbox, etc), shaved the door handles and locks, wing window delete, shaved the rocker moldings, fender emblems, and antenna hole. Lastly, we shaved the driprails as well.

Vortec 8.1 that we stroked to 502 cubic inch, completely gone through by Grays Machine shop locally, and a 4L60-E tranny. The F.A.S.T fuel management system came in the mail today :) and the tranny will have the TCI controller as well. The rearend is a Chris Alston Fab9.

My question:
It has come to the suspension and we decided on Airride. The plan is to put 285 (or wider, maybe 315's) x22's in the back and 20's in the front. With the fab9 housing, what offset wheels am I going to need? I want the fastest lip's on the rims as possible. Can some body help me out with this or point me in the right direction to figure it out on my own? Thanks guys, will keep you updated on the progress...

Welcome to the board, sounds like a nice street rod project. You should be able to buy whatever backspacing you can find, and have the rear built to fit between. With 22's, you will probably end up going with whatever backspacing a Escalade or Navigator uses, or have a million dollar set of deep dish 22's custom made.
There is no better way to get it right then to have the wheels done, mount the tires, put them in place under the car, and measure between the wheel mounting flanges.

and trust me, im king of the bling bling and i think you should do a 18-20 combo. we did that with a local chevelle, and put the 20s on the front and they in my opinion were just a little TO big. the 18s and 20s looked perfect....

See, that's exactly what I was looking for!!!! So I should just buy the wheels that I want to use, sit them under the car, and measure the distance between the two? I will then need to narrow the rearend most likely, right? I appreciate a guy with your obvious knowlege taking time out of your day to help the "little" guy. I've seen your work, beautiful, keep it up.
Thanks

That's what my chassis shop did. In my case, though, they built a wider Fab 9 for my car since it had a 48" wide prostreet 9" rear.
