What are the ends of this crossmember being welded too? The bolt-on subframe is now permanent?

I think the crossmember was welded to the subframe connectors. Then there was a section underneath the car that actually mounted the transmission to the crossmember.

Their is two short stubs on the bottom side of the floor that the crossmember bolts to. Here is a better pic off their site.
