Welcome to the forum! I'm not much help though on your question. The biggest I've ever tried on my 66 with stock wheelwells was a 245 on a 7" rim. No problems with that.

If I remember correctly they were 245 60 15's. I'm moving the rails in, narrowing the tank and mini tubbing mine. Go to the wheel & tire section check the database thread and do some searches. I'm sure you'll find a bunch of people with 17's 18's.

I have a 65 Mustang coupe project and have trial fitted a set of 255/17/40's. They fit fine although I am cutting my diff to suit the wheels. I probably could have fit 265's but they would be pretty tight and may have rubbed when the tires flex through corners.

Go to stangnet.com and in the classic tech forum is a wheel guide about what fits. I know a guy running 275/17's with no mods. I fit a set of 255/50 16 DR's on mine with only minor rubbing on the fender.

i would like to run a 275 18 what would i have to do to get them to fit. i cant seem to find offset shackles for my leaf springs. i thought about maybe building a custom set? the tire hits the leaf springs before it hits up front.

No one makes offset shackles for the Mustangs. You would need to reweld the front boxes in anyways once you move them. A short 275 should fit with only using a BFH.

not sure of the difference between a 68 and 66, but I'm running stock locations on my rear leafs only a mid eye for lowering. I have 18x9 forgot the offset and am running 265/35/18. I could easily have run a 275 and a 9.5 width rim.

This is my 68 coupe. Lowered the front 1.5" and the rear 2". I definately think I would have room to run a 275/35 or even a 285 in the rear. The rims are 9" wide, could have gone with 9.5". Fronts are 8" wide. As for offset I will have to look around to get the numbers.
