Does anyone know of anyone doing any tests on steel comparing chinese steel to domestic? Or tests that have been done? We've filtered out all Chinese steel from our inventory (it didn't bend as well, was dirty, had a lot of scale on the material), but alot of times the chinese steel is cheaper and people don't even realize that's what they've got. So we're trying to find some statistics/tests that support buying domestic- better for everyone right?

whenever we get Chinese steel at work, it is just like you describe- scaly, pitted, and the lasers just don't like to cut thru it cleanly. the welders also hate the stuff.
the only time we get it any more is when the customer supplies the material, and obviously buys on price alone.
