Trunk Mounted Battery

Has anyone mounted a battery in the truck of a 1st gen convertible and still retainfed the cocktail shakers? I would like to tuck the bettery in under the (r) rear fender as far as possible but becuase of the shaker it sticks out kind of far. From what i've read the shakers are still needed. The car will have frame connectors. Suggestions, pictures if possible.
