I had my gears changed last week from 2.73 to 3.73. I need to change the speedo gear to get the correct reading of speed.

the car is a 1968 Camaro, 8.2 10 bolt, TH350 with 25.6in tall rear tires (245r50 16's). The old driven gear was 21 teeth. the local Chevy dear can not tell me the correct new driven gear needed and the only speedo shop I can find closed its doors.

I used this formula from the TCI website to calc the drive gear number of teeth and then to get the new driven gear number of teeth needed.

drive gear # of teeth*ratio*tire rev per mile = # of driven teeth
1001

This gave me 29, which I hope is wrong. This would tell me I need to change the drive and the driven gears since I do not think 29 is available.

Any help would be appreciated.
