Hey guys,
I had the car dyno'd last October at A&A Corvette where it put down 505 rwhp and 470 rwtq. It was quick after that but it has never ran right when cold and it has always had a few other driveability issues that needed to be worked out. The engine was showing some pretty high IATs on the dyno, so a water/alcohol injection system was the plan. I've since had other things to deal with on the car including a subframe swap and a new rearend.

I finally got around to installing a trunk mounted progressive system from AIS (alcohol Injection Systems) and taking the car over to Charlie at RPM Motors in Santa Clarita for some tuning. I just have to tell you that Charlie is the man and what he does is an incredible value and worth every penny. The difference is night and day.

We ended up doing the tune in speed density to get the driveability where it needed to be. That means no more air flow meter and I can clean up the intake pipe by eliminating it. I now have a 2 bar. MAP sensor that is used instead of the MAF. I can now start the thing up cold and it drives like a new car.

But the big news are the new numbers: 543 rwhp and 516 rwtq

That's around 650 hp and 620 lbs. at the flywheel and about 40 hp and 45 more tq than I had last time. The power curve is very smooth and the torque is as flat as could be. Torque hits 500 (at the wheels) as soon as the run begins around 3000 rpm and stays there until 5500. I'm impressed and the car is an animal right now. The tune was done with engine safety in mind and the meth injection was used to cool off the charge and prevent knock. We did not lean out the A/F to make more power and have to rely on the meth to keep the engine alive.

I'll try to post the dyno chart so you guys can check it out as well as a pic of what the motor looks like these days.

Great Camaro! I am doing a similar build with a Lq9 and the Magnacharger. Brian up at Magnacharger quoted me similiar numbers on HP and Torque. I am very excited to see that he was dead on. Car looks great, KUDOS!

If I win the lottery, expect a knock on your door. Look for me with a duffle bag.

Where did you get the boost/wide band gauge pod?

Great car! What clearances did you end up with between your Q-panel and inner tub using that tub and tire combo? Can you post any pics of that portion of your build? ( If I win the Lotto I'll show up with 2 duffle bags...)

Its actually an Autometer part made for a (cough cough) Mustang. Can't remember the part number off the top of my head but can get it for you if you want it. That's actually a digital shift light and a boost gauge up there.

Andy,
I will be ready for that part number in about two years...:( If you find that number, please let me know. Did you need to modify that part at all? Looks like a very clean install.

I did not modify it at all. It fits pretty well, but the finish doesn't really match the smooth A-pillars in my '67. It would probably match better in a 68 or 69 but it looks just fine in my car. It's nice having the boost and shift lights right at eye level.

Thanks Trey,
You know I owe you for helping me pick out my engine parts when I was just getting into the whole LSx world.

FWIW, I got to embarress a blown C6 Vette a few nights ago. Guy said it put down like 490 rwhp before he did the headers, but I ran away from him like nothing on several runs. That was a nice feeling.

REALLY Nice numbers Andy! That thing must be a monster on the street. Hows traction? I assume you have none lol.

So are you done tinkering yet, or what are the next mods planned?

Thanks Ryan,
The torque curve (or lack of one) is really impressive on the street. It just has power everywhere and feels like it just wants to keep pulling. And yeah, 1st and 2nd gears and about useless on street tires.

Not sure what else is in store. The motor is done for now I think, but I might do a set of AFR heads and a 3" exhaust if I feel the need for a little more power in the future. It's putting down that kind of power through 2.5" exhaust, so I wonder what's being left on the table.

I'm really enjoying just driving it right now. It's been off the road more than I'd like between my big engine changes, broken subframe and rearend swaps.

I'm also hoping to go to the dragstrip with some slicks to see what it can do.

Very nice Andy. The tune makes or breaks these things.

Have any pics of the meth setup? I'm considering.....

Here's the system I used: http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/p102/Stage-2-Adjust.-Progressive-Trunk-Mount-Water-Methanol-Injection-System/product_info.html

I don't have any pics of the install yet, but there is almost nothing visible in the engine bay. I also went with a braided AN line for the meth instead of the cheesy plastic line the kit comes with. Last thing I want is that thing breaking or melting and having a fire or engine damage, etc.
