With the advent of plus sizing avaliable like 17's,18's and now 20"s. awesome selection and sizes. So heres a question....

Just wanted know like in the good ol days of running a 1969 Camaro in the new Trans-Am series of racing, and even into the 80'swith Nascar ,what size rim and tire combos where ran?

With my Buick Regal I like to mimick the appearance of styles of of one of those eras.

Maybe NASCAR or something in the Trans-Am SCCA style.

The reason I am asking is if I remember right there where and maybe still are 15" rims even today.

Hmmmm a Nascar Buick..... Radiused wheel well , Bulged and Flared fenders and Qtrs, lowered..... but the graphics will be tamed not so NASCARish.....

Do think even now on those 15" rims and rubber it'll still handle well?

Thanks ahead of time

A little research gave me a few tidbits.

Yes a 15" diameter wheel.

The wheel tire sizes range, because of stagger, but the most common height was either a 27" or 28" tall tires front and rear.

The tire widths from 8.5" to 10", on basicly the same width rim.

Mine looks like a 4x4 riding on 205/65/15's in the front and 275/60/15's in the rear
(see the gap between the top of the front tire and the wheel opening?)

Now this is the Lowered stance my son and I agree upon this is "SWEET!!"

Its Rolling on the same size as mine 275/60/15's rear and 26" tall fronts.

I like how those 28"tall rears fill up the rear wheelwells on our cars.

Just don't know how those size tires would do with a Pro-Touring style set up, IE::: twisties and some salom course playing.

Too much sidewall?Any Ideas where to start?

With that said I love to maybe eventually 2-tone the paint and put on a front end like the one in the pictures below with GNX fender flares.

Wheels and stance are everything IMO and will instantly transform any car but the NASCAR look and it's basic lack of technology and modern advances just doesn't do a thing for me. If you're looking to emulate a racecar, go for a roadrace look like ALMS cars or a modern sportscar. For a good example of a modern GM high performance car the size of your Buick, look to a Pontiac G8 GT that runs 19s from the factory or an M3 with 18s or M6 with 19s and you will get the idea.

I love GNs and GNXes but be careful with the complete bodykit from the white GNX. The rocker flares look like the automotive equivalent of a mullet. The only thing missing from that car is T-Tops.
