If I were able to put a deal together to hold a new event here http://www.gingermanraceway.com/directions
How many would attend and run your cars. I understand to some when it would happen would be an issue, but I don't have a date yet. This is just a "feeler thread" to see who might would attend. This is a real road course and with a nearby dragstrip, I think we could have fun. Maybe even squeeze in a cruise near the lake. Just guessing, I am thinking an entrance fee of $125 would cover the weekend event. We would have vendors there, give away prizes, etc. similar to RTTHs. We have such a great time here every year, I think it is time to step up and have something closer to other members on the board. No details yet guys, just seeing how many would make the effort to attend. It takes committment to start an event, who will commit to being involved?

I don't suppose California's out of the question...is it Bill? :fingersx:

Okay...maybe not so much. It'd be a drive, but I bet it'd be a blast. Any limitations on what kind of cars could come out? Seems as though I've ended up with nothing but new(ish) stuff in my stable... :hand:

Hey Bill, That is like sooooooo possible for us guys up North. I could drive there in 4 to 5 hrs I bet.

I can think of 3 to 4 other friends that could possibly go if it was the right time .

This could actually get them recruited to Pro-Touring once they meet everyone and have a great time.

Make this thread stick on the top :secret:

Gingerman = 150 miles

I'd be there- and the car would work this time

Its about 500 miles closer to me than Pigeon Forge so I would be very interested depending on the date. Not much free time for me from May - August.
Is the drag strip 1/4 or 1/8 mile?

09-16-2008, 06:06 AM
It's a long haul, but if the dates are right I'll be there. Like Payton said, Barber is a good idea for us southern guys too, but I guess that is a little too close to the RTTH venue to help any of the other board members out.

Gingerman is a GREAT venue for capturing a LOT of members from that part of the country. Aside from being convienient to the people in Michigan, it almost serves as a sort of epicenter for the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Ohio. Also, the people from the New York and New England areas can simply cut across Canada and shave a ton off their drive time.

Not only will I be there but if you need any help with it Bill, you know not to hesitate asking.

And I'll be doing my best to make sure as many members from Michigan get their asses out there.

Here is the Drag Strip we are looking at.
http://www.us131motorsportspark.com/

I worry about doing it too early in the year, Mayish ok weatherwise there?

Oh, just in case anyone was wondering, RTTHs here in Pigeon Forge will always be a yearly event for us. This is just the next step for some other members to get to enjoy what those here have already done. I promised last year to do another event as soon as we could find sponsorship and it looks like we have that support now. Who knows, one of these years we may even get to do something in California.....

Count me in Bill. 699 miles from South Dakota. I'll be there.

P.S. A real central location could be MidAmerica Motorplex just south of Omaha. They have a dragstrip on site also.

OH Guys, how about Memorial Day weekend. IF, and that is a big if right now, IF things could be put in place, that is a great weekend to do something as you get an extra day. I know some have other plans, but how many would work that into your schedules? I will explain why later, but due to schedules, weather, and upcoming events, this really works good.

May 25th 2009 is Memorial Day.

Is this date gonna' be to close to the Year One Experience ??
YOE was May 12th-16th this year. I don't know what it will be next year.
I would attend Bill's event instead of YOE if the dates were close .
But there isn't really much use in having our event within a week or two YOE .
You don't wanna' " Rob Peter to pay Paul " .

That would mean two events within a month.
That could get kinda' pricy and time consuming for some people.

Regardless of when or where this event will take place , I WILL be there !

Hey Bill,

I would be in.Date does't matter , we should arrange our schedules to fit the event! I have been to 2 of your rtth events and am hooked . If they are similar to those it will be a must do. Some of my hesitant friends would be more inclined to attend this than the hike to Pigeon Forge. But hey, wadda we gonna do for a cruise? The scenery down in Tenn. is hard to beat. I suggest a "Run through the Ghettos" . Not as scenic , but much more exhilarating than the twists through the hills!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve is right, I have been in contact regularly with the Sponsors since RTTH4 and once all is in place we will make an official announcement about it. I am so excited about this new venue and the new players that will be involved. RTTHs is a great event and my hope has been for a couple years that it would be the springboard for other events across the country. Now that a Sponsor has stepped up to help one get off the ground in Michigan, I think we are on our way. While I would love to do 4 events a year, remember, I still have a day job, and all this takes time and planning. I will be calling on folks once we get the details nailed down, so be ready.
Guys, we ARE the cutting edge of the Protouring world and by WE, I mean Larry and Pro-touring.com, Scott and Lateral-g.net plus so many members from both sites. If you sit and think about that, sometimes it gets overwhelming, however at the same time it is huge that we do events and show that we are different from the average carshow crowd and that we do things right when we do a show. The world is watching us to see if we are for real, or just talk. I encourage everyone to get your car ready, and come to the event, or just come to the event. I promise, once you do, you WILL go home and finish your car. Either way, by coming you help show your support to both naysayers and potential sponsors and that helps us prove we are who we say we are.
So, plan to come if there is anyway at all you can, and we will all toast to our little nitch in the car world when we get together.

Damn, Damn, 500 foot is not a hill. It's a pebble. Hills on the left coast (as you know) start at 1000 ft, and go to 10000 foot from there. That's where I grew up, that's what I know.

I live by Mt Holly in Oakland County MI. It has an amazing 300 ft vertical drop. I'm used to that being the drop from the parking lot to the base of the ski lifts. When my wife saw it, she started laughing, and said, "OK, you're right. Size does matter."
