Is it worth rebuilding the posi in my 12 bolt? It is a 1970 Camaro 12 bolt with factory Eaton Posi. The break away is 30 ft#, and i autocross the heck out of the car. If I can rebuild the clutches and spring pack and tighten the breakaway up to say 100#'s for a reasonable amount I am in. I have also thout about the auburn tru trac helical LSD, but if I can get parts to tighten the one I have then I am game. Where is a good source for these parts and technical advise???
thanks

Is it worth it ?? Uhhh... hell yes. Not to mention that it is quite affordable to do so. Tomsdifferentials sells the solid disk clutch pack rebuild kits for around $100.
To tighten up the clutch preload... you will want to purchase one of Tom's posi shim kits. All you do is stack enough shim under the last clutch plate to where you can just barely rotate the side gears in... then install the spider gear thrust washers... and if you want, you can also bump up the pre-load spring pack pressure with higher tention springs... which in my opinion, I wouldnt use anything over the 400 lb springs as it will increase the wear rate of the clutches.
...and Auburn doesnt make a helical LSD. That would be Detroit/EATON. They make the True Trac... which is an excellent unit for autoX and track days... not to mention everyday street use. The only thing with the True Trac is that it wont live up to too much drag racing... as they dont take the impact loading very well.
