This is off of a email from Cardomain I just got.

NASCAR's second-string Nationwide Series won't debut its own version of the Car of Tomorrow until at least 2010, but they officially began testing of their "new car" on Monday. And who's the coolest prototype on the track? Dodge rolled up with this NASCARed-out Challenger, and I think it looks hot as hell. From the fenders back, it looks pretty much like any other stock car, because of the way the cars' lines have to conform to specific body templates determined by NASCAR. But the sanctioning body has modified the rules governing the forward sheet metal, so it appears that the nationwide CoTs might actually be permitted to run real front clips instead of just stickers.
I think it's a step in the right direction.

Yeah, they are testing it for the Nationwide series. Gives a little credit to the rumor that flew a round earlier this year that Nationwide series might go to Pony cars. Camaro, Mustang & Challenger.

weren't they testing Mustangs and Camaros at that same test? i guess i should include the Camry, too...
essentially, they take the COT, put an older spoiler on the back, and a somewhat "stock" looking nose, and call it a Challenger..
i think they are doing this to get public feedback about various parts of the car more than to show what the next generation of race cars are going to look like.

Saw this earlier in the week, I am glad they chose to keep the older spoiler vs. the big tuner lookin cot wing in the sprint cup.
I to have heard the rumors of the pony car deal for nationwide. I think that it would be really cool but im not sure how everyone will react to it.

I am not dumping on it. There are obviously people that enjoy it. Maybe I should rephrase my original statement, but then I wouldn't be saying anything nice...:rotfl:

Go NASCAR...woot!
