The motor is a 2002 F-body LS1??
I was just looking at the picture thread and realized my motor didnt come with one??
What ones are best or can I use a stock one??
Does anyone have a stock one for sale so I can get this thing running??
Thanks
save your money and have the computer tuned for speed density which doesn't use a MAF. If you have already had your car tuned, get a factory MAF. They work well, support a lot of horsepower, and the aftermarket ones are crap in my opinion anyway. Too many instances of weird drivability problems being directly related to an aftermarket MAF change

What do I have to do or change to go to speed density??
Thanks

i would run a maf over a SD for a daily driver type ride. get a stock maf and get the engine running. you can always get a SD tune later if you want. the stock maf is good to about 500 rwhp.

OK But what needs to be done to go speed density??
Thanks

dyno tune
stock MAFs will handle a lot more than 500 RWHP. I'll be way past that come January. I may switch this C5 I'm building over to SD though.
There's nothing wrong with SD in a daily driver so long as the tuner knows what they are doing. The PCM is already programmed to run SD over 4k rpm I believe it is directly from GM.
To run in SD all you need is to mount the intake air temp sensor and wire it correctly. The trucks and Fbodies had the sensor separate from the MAF for many years. The vette integrated them in 2000 or 2001. Really, all you have to do is get the schematics for the PCM and find the IAT sensor wires. There are two of them. Get the sensor out of a truck or Fbody and mount it in the intake tube. The biggest thing is the tuning. The tuner must be proficient with doing SD tunes. It's time consuming compared to a MAF tune so it will cost a little more and physically take longer. The end result is the same only you have a cleaner intake setup since there is no MAF.
BTW, I have one swap that runs SD and my tuner's personal C5 vette is a heavy heads/cam car that runs SD. No issues driving either one. Especially his which is radical compared to the other. The third one I an contemplating going SD with is a C5 running heads/cam/magnacharger. Mild cam though so we are thinking 530-550 rwhp. Only reason I am thinking of doing it is to clean the engine bay up since the car will be shown and not just driven.

I'm going SD as well for my 70 TA :)

Anyone know what the difference is between a 1.0 and 1.5 Mass Airflow sensor??
That is what the Chevy dealer asked when I tried to pick one up??
Thanks

That's a good price. I was going to offer you mine for $50 but it isn't even off the car yet :) $45 is a LOT better than what the dealer would charge!!!

i think you might need a different connector and you will have to tune it for the descreened z06 maf. I'm not entirely sure. I had bought it for my EFI swap and ended up going with a carb. I just found it the other day and realized i forgot to sell it with all my efi i stuff months ago.

you're gonna need the 5 to 3 pin conversion harness to run the Z06 maf...tune is not reaaly needed but recommended...

I'm speed density on a truck motor. Had to splice in a map sensor, change some wiring up, but it was easy. My car runs great. No matter the weather change, humidity, hot or cold starts, etc. Thats why we pay to get a dyno tune.
Plus its 2 less couplers, 4 less t bolt clamps when running forced induction like myself.

If you decide to go with the MAF, I have a 85mm MAF (ZO6) for sale. You can get the adapter harness from:
