Just installed my DSE s/f connectors and wanted to get your thoughts on a bolt in mod. I welded a 1/8" top plate to the DSE brackets and drilled out the spot weld holes to accept 3/8” G8 thru bolts. I also added crush sleeves inside the s/f tubes and drilled a 3/8” hole thru the tops so I could bolt them to the top plates. I tacked the brackets to my s/f and the setup seems pretty stout, but I'm wondering if the holes will elongate over time? Would welding in some washers around the bolt holes help?
