Hey guys,
Our boat is a 1986 22 foot stingray with a 400 cubic inch chevy, with about scat everything, we put a new cam in it that is .480 intake ans .489 exhaust and the best part is the headers run up and out the back, but they are muffled by water to keep them cool but this motor combo is a very thumpy sounding motor to say the least.

The guy that built the motor goes out with us every time he has jet boat that about the only way to discribe this thing is a piece of plywood with a 468 big block on it, this boat is very quick I swear your skeleton moves but your skin gets left behind.

The best part is our boat will stay right beside him but he leaves sooooo much faster then we can.

Any body else have any boats?

When I was a kid, my parents had a flat bottom v-drive with a 331 Hemi and dual quads....scared the crap out of me because it was so loud, lol.

I've never been one for speed on water, it is whole different animal. I had a Ski Centurion Elite but decided to sell it when I wanted to buy my house about ten years ago and just never bought another one, built my car instead.

I like to breath when I wreck. 70mph in my ranger was great but boats don't float my boat.

I like jet boats. It's amazing how 70 mph down the highway feels like nothing but 70 mph skittering across a lake feels like you're flying!!! :seizure:

Here's a link to the boat we ran at last year at Lake of the Ozarks.

Definitely a fun ride.

I use to have a 18' Mantra jet boat with a 454 bb, chrome headers coming out of the back of the boat, and yes, there's nothing like it going across the lake with the headers roaring and you sitting just above the water line.

I was really into boats before the kids came. Started with a Brendella runner-bottom, small block tunnel-ram

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/09/flat-1.jpg

that morphed into a blown alcohol small block

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/09/flat2-1.jpg

Then went to a hydro, much more stable and fast. Ran 10.0's at about 120 mph

We actually took our boat today, we went to the alifia river and just putts around for a few hours we had our dogs and mom with us so we could not go real fast. But we stop at a little island and and let our one dog swim and play around for a few minutes, the other dog was FREAKING OUT!!! it was the first and last time on the boat for her. We had a bit of a timing or fuel problem, we have had a problem with the demon carb cutting off at high RPM's but this time it did not want to rev in between 3000 rpm and full throttle so when we got home we played with the timing and we think we have dialed in now but without a load on the prop it is hard to say. I was gonna get a video for you guys to hear our boat but did not have batteries in the camera, sorry maybe next time.

Why yes. We LOVE boats in my family. This is my brothers boat at englebright lake in northern Ca. It was REALLY windy that day. The water was terrible.
Fastest we could get to was 70-75 mph that day. He's getting a droop snoot for it that should make it go a little faster.

NSFW language.

Yeah jet boats are so awsome, our friends boat is just insane he has had his up to 70 mph with the stock jet, so I would hate to know what it would do with a better jet.

Our boat runs about 60-65 but it has a very heavy ride to it that it does not feel all that fast, but it can't get there as fast. When we were flushing the motor out today after playing with the timing and all that it was idling a 640-650 and still had a fast sounding idle to it so we may pull the .490 .498 and put a .498 and .500 in it to really chop things up!

Well...I wasn't into speed boats when I owned mine and I don't think I ever will be. I am primarily a fisherman and my 20' Trophy was used just for that. I sold it 3 years ago to put the money towards my Camaro and I miss the hell out of it. It did a paltry 35mph at full throttle but was responsible for a ton of Salmon, Perch and Walleye hitting my family's dinner table. LOL!!! I will get another fishing vessel someday. I really miss having a boat. This pic was taken just before our final run before it went on eBay; an early spring cruise out on Lake St. Clair with my wife and two kids.

My dad's 1980 Eliminator, 19' Daytona in Sacramento

454BBC, Jet. 70mph is so freaky that close to the water. After 20 years, sold it 2 months ago.

Hey Tony, it's too bad we never crossed paths...sounds like it woulda been epic! Keep an eye out for it though, the new owner is in Sac also. Do me a favor and beat it so maybe I'll miss it a little less.

I use to be a crew member on this boat: http://www.g-17.com/

My dad was the crew chief, I was the kid that tagged along and did whatever I could to help. Now I design and maintain their website.
