Suspension Kit

For my c3 corvette project, I want to make it superior to the c6 in everyway, including suspension. I would use the car for highway cruising and occassionally drag/autox/hard street driving.

I was thinking that since I'm on a bit of a budget, a kit would be the cheapest and best performing option.

Does anyone have experience with the Vette Brakes & Performance "Performance Plus System"?

The easiest thing you could do is to sell the car, take the money and plunk it down on a new C6, then upgrade THAT car. I really am not trying to be a smart aleck, so please try not to take offense. The C5's, especially the Z06 cars, were amaxing. From everything I have heard and read, the C6 stomps all over that car. And the new Z06, well, if you can truly beat that car with a refurb'ed PT type car that truly beats it in "every" way, I'd like to offer you employment.

The C3's suffer from a way less than optimized rear suspension geometry, and though I can't state at all that I am an expert on this particular aspect, it is well documented that this is not the "best" or even acceptable solution. Contact **** Gulstrand for ideas on this, he has a bit of experience with them.

Rather than trying to step all over a new car, that has the benefit of decades of time, a huge team of engineers, and big time development budget, I'd suggest you try to come up with some specific goals that will push you in a particular direction. Once you really dive into this sport, you'll find that *something* in the project is going to have to give. 0_60? 1/4 mile? Braking? Max G's? Road coarse lap times? Style? Comfort? Reliability? Gas mileage? You've picked a very worthy adversary in the new 'vette.

Whatever you decide, go for it! I love the C3's, well, through 1972 anyway....

I think I would start looking for a wrecked C6, and see how much of the suspension and frame you could swap under a C3. It would definately be a challenge to make it better in everyway, just small things like the heads up display would be a pretty hard thing to retrofit.

Agreed. C3s were great cars for their time but the C5 and C6 are head and shoulders above in every way (except maybe style :) ). The only way IMO to make a "C3" superior to a stock C6 in every way is to buy a C6,improve it in every way (somehow),then transplant C3 body panels onto it. It`s not gonna happen with a C3 chassis and suspension and there`s no way it`s going to happening on a budget (unless it`s a HUGE one). ;) That`s not to say that you can`t improve your C3 and make it much better and very good overall. Alright, let me re-phrase that :)

I'm 18, and crave muscle cars. My dream car is a 69 Corvette. I currently own a 70 Cutlass, but it doesn't exactly give me the muscle car power. I'de like to start getting my hands dirty and doing engine work/mechanical stuff. I've been reading a lot of books to prepare myself, and building a car would give me just as much satisfaction (if not more) than buying a fast one out of the box (I'm sure you guys here understand).

Anyway, my dad might actually buy a C6 this summer (he's been looking to get a Corvette for years).

When I said I wanted the car superior to the C6 in everyway, I was exaggerating abit. I want it to be a solid pro-tourer. The closest thing I've seen to my vision is Chris McDonald's 69. Anyway, would it be better to piece the suspension together, or just buy a kit. And in term of kits, how is Vette Brakes & Performance. I'm just planning everything right now, as the project is still a year or so off.
