Background: In the October 2008 Popular Hot Rodding (AJ's 68 firebird on cover) there is a brief write up on the LS3 crate engine from General Motors Performance Parts (GMPP). It is inthe "Alloy Alternatives" write up on page 94 (not write up on AJ's firebird). In the write up the magazine states "If you want to pack a little more punch, GMPP offers a 485-horse Hot Cam edition (P/N 19171224) for about $500 more. IF THAT STILL ISN'T ENOUGH, WAIT TILL LATE THIS YEAR FOR THE 515HP VERSION!"

Questions: Does anyone know any details on what they are refering to with the 515 HP version coming out later this year (only 4 months left)? Is this version EFI?

I know they already have a 515HP version BUT it is setup for a carb. I am close to buying the 485 HP version for my 68 camaro but do not want to find out if I waited 2 months I could of had 30 more horsepower for a couple hundred bucks.

Any info would be appreciated.

Mr. Vengeance is correct. I knew that GMPP offers a 515 HP carbed intake version (P/N 19171225) but I am interested in a potential 515 HP EFI version that PHR alluded to was coming out later this year.

Thanks for the replies so far. Liz Miles is a PT member and the technical editor at PHR so maybe she can dig up the details on this one.

you may want to check out this thread, not exactly what your looking for, but if anyone would know about the 515 ls3 it would be scoggin dickey. and it sounds like they can do just about anything to meet your needs.

Thought I'd bump this one back from eternity.

I'm basically going to try and do this engine setup with an L92 crate engine getting swapped into my fourth gen. My LS1 already had the ASA cam in it to begin with, so its going in the new motor. I don't know when it will be done, but I'll post up some results when I'm done.
