Here's what's been going through my head since all this EFI stuff really took off. I'm leaving emissions out of the equation because the difference with respect to that is obvious. I have a 3600lb 71 chevelle with a 496ci BBC, 640hp and 590ft/lb-no power adders, tko600 and 3.31 gears. There's a million different ways to make that same level of power. Here's what i'd like to see:
1-Actual dyno numbers for your combination-not bench race numbers
2-weight of that engine-turbos, blowers all push the weight of sb's closer to the BBC realm
3-fuel mileage-how much does it really make a difference on you're in the 600+hp range, especially naturally aspirated what engine/combo is making the power.
Here's what I have:
-640hp/590tq,
-approx* 650lbs-alum. heads, water pump, mini starter, new style GM alt.
-usually 100-125 miles on a 16gal. tank which works out to 6-8mpg.
Realistically the same combination can be bought anywhere in north america for around 7-8k assembled.
