Blasting media

What type of media would you all use to remove surface rust? This is mainly the backside of fenders, hood, trunk lid, mainly places I can't get good with a DA. I was thinking about using a silica sand since it is fine, however not sure if I am comfortable with using that stuff now due to the health hazards associated with it. I have a respirator, just looking for alternatives. Thanks.

I used this stuff called black diamond from Northern when i was working on my rims. Did a pretty good job to. If you have a Northern around you i would go in there, they have loads of different types of media all with little descriptions of what they're best used for.

I don't have a Northern, but I have a Tractor Supply and they do advertise the Black Diamond, I will try it out, thanks for the help.

Confirmed, I've bought several bags of Black Diamond at Tractor Supply.
