I'm in the middle of doing the goldstrand mod on my Firebird. The driver side went well but I'm seeing some problems with the passenger side. You can see in this picture that the lower hole is on a curved section of the perch. Is that correct?

In this picture its hard to see the botton of the A-arm is hitting the frame.

Is this all normal?

I was just reading about this mod about 30 mins ago. Check out this site:

The way I read it, looks like you have to trim the first alignment shim so it will sit flush at that spot. Then the rest will sit flush and shouldn't cause a problem.

I haven't done the mod, but many at camaros.net have.

Good to know thanks. Any mention of needing to trim the A-arm to keep from hitting the frame? I'm concerned somthing might be tweaked.

One potential issue with the G Mod is that you can loose a lot of suspension travel in droop. Mount the arm in the stock holes and measure the travel in droop at the ball joint mounting plate. Then mount it in the new holes and measure it again. If the arm is hitting the frame before you achieve full travel then it`s time to get the grinder out. Make sure that whatever you do doesn`t compromise the structural integrity of the arms or the subframe. Or you can do what a lot of people do, loose a bunch of droop travel and just ignore it. :) Mark SC&C

Somewhere I made a bolt in template that locates the new holes, i probably loaned it out.... Any way you will need to remove a bit from the bottom of the a-arm, dont remember the curved part on my 68 Bird though. good luck. After the mod all the shop could get me was 3* of caster before I started getting to much camber. Anyway 3* is better for a nearly all stock car 5* would be great though. Car still doesn't handle like my 2nd gen!

Crap! I really wanted to run with my brothers 76 or 78 T/A. I'm in to deep on this car to change everything. I'll have to plan better on my other 68.
