I see the prices are starting to get close the MSRP's but, how long before we start seeing them on used car lots for around 5K or even 10K under MSRP?
Also when is Dodge going to start putting out the RT's & SL's which should be a little more affordable for us common folk?

The '09's will be in production soon, so I am told by my local dealer. The 6 speed is the kicker for me. I'm ready to order, however, I'm holding out for the B5 blue and it will be a late availability, meaning next summer. We have a used SRT-8 here in Columbia, Missouri with 1200 miles on it. The knucklehead still wants 45 grand for it. It also has slighly less tread on the rear!

You think that is bad, I just found this up for sale here in the DFW, Texas area.

Went by my local dealer yesterday and he has about 9 Challengers on the lot, mostly 08's with a 20k premium markup and 2 09's with 6's in them with a 10k markup. I have tried over the past 10 years to buy vehicles from this dealer but his stuff is obviously better than everyone elses. Its sad that dealers are going to kill this just like they did Vipers early on by marking them up to 120k+. Really just grinds me!

The dealer up the street from the dealer I work at has a red one up front, looks to be a 6cyl car too. Also has dealer plates on it, maybe someone can get a discount on it
I'm confused. We have 09 Challengers out right now even though it seems like the 08's have only been available to the public for a couple of months?

I understand that about ONE HALF of all the 08 SRT's built are still NOT sold. Chrysler may be sold out of 08's but their dealers are sure not!
Everyone that wanted one bad enough to pay the HUGE dealer markup's most dealers were/are trying to get has now bought one and therefore the rest of the unsold 08's are sitting on dealer lots/showrooms. Time for the new car dealers to come down to the real world.
A new car dealer recently offered my dealership an 08 SRT 8 for $3K BACK of sticker. Thats still too high. Just wait, the price will soon drop drastically!

vintageracer, while the prices may drop soon, lets just hope its not too late, the damage may already be done! I hope not! I HATE how dealers mark up prices like that, it only hurts the image of the car

Here is another issue:
"Edmunds does performance testing on the NON-SRT model Challengers in their latest reviews. Maybe they have a huge weight problem as its immense amount of power doesn't seem to give an edge over the mustang...or cars with much fewer horses......
Results
Challenger RT 5.7 liter 375hp.......0-60 in 5.9 seconds
Challenger SE 3.5 liter 250hp.......0-60 in 8.1 seconds
For comparison
1. Ford mustang V8: 300hp 0-60 in 5.2 seconds
2. Ford mustang V6: 210hp 0-60 in 6.5 seconds
3. Infiniti G35 330hp 0-60 in 5.5 seconds
4. BMW 335i 300hp 0-60 in 4.8 seconds
5. Pontiac G8 GT 361hp 0-60 in 5.3 seconds
6. Accord Coupe V6 268hp 0-60 in 6.3 seconds
7. Impala SS 303hp 060 in 5.7 seconds
all these cars have alot less horsepower but in the ball park with the RT Challenger or faster......the 2002 Camaro SS had 320hp and 60 in 5.0 seconds"

Crap, my car is a full second quicker than a V6 Challenger!? Should I be proud of my car, or feel bad for the Challenger? My VUE has a 3.5L V6 rated at 250hp, much like the Challenger, only mine is build by Honda.

Yeah, it's gotta be the weight of the Challanger.

The 09s are being built already. I've seen non-RT cars in many colours on the transporters coming out of the assembly plant (I live about 15 minutes away).
cheers

None of saturns engines are built by Honda. The 250ish HP engine is a GM DOHC 3.6

I thought for a year or 2 GM used honda 3.5L (not saying his is one, more in general), same one in the Pliots.
GM should not have killed the 3.5 'short star' that Olds used. Nice engine, very smooth.

You're close! It was for the models years '04 - '07. The engine is basically the same thing as in the Pilot, MDX, Odyssey, Ridgeline
