Hey everyone,

A couple months ago I purchased a 1st gen wayne due C4 subframe from forum member "OneSlowZ28".
There was some initial confusion with what the subframe was built for, and when I had initially heard that it may have been for a 2nd gen car, I informed him that I wasn't interested anymore, since my car was a 67'.
A few days later, I was contacted by OneSlowZ28 again, and was told:

"You may be intersted to know that after ALOT of discussion it has come to be the frame is actually for a 1st gen camaro and i was screwed from the getgo. If you are still interested please let me know before it goes on ebay. Thanks"

I had been looking for a subframe for a long time, and was very close to pulling the trigger on the Jake's Rod Shop clip, but due to some changes in my budget, and a decision to go to law school, I decided to go with the C4 due clip, since I had a friend with the same clip in hs car, and OneSlowZ28 had the frame up for a good price.

Well, I got the clip, which had a few holes cut in it that had to be re-boxed and cleaned up before putting it in my car. Finaly yesterday I got the chance to start pulling my car apart and installing the subframe.

After we pulled the car apart, we tried to line up the frame under the car, and found that it was 100% certainly not for first gen car. None of the body mounts line up at all. Since a friend of mine has a first gen C4 wayne due in his car, we went and did some comparison measurements between my stock clip, my wayne due, and my friends wayne due.

We found that my stock clip and my friends wayne due match up almost exactly, while the clip I purchased from OneSlow Z28 is off by several inches.

So what I want to know now, is what a reasonable course of action is in this situation. I'm sure (hopefully) that OneSlowZ28 did not intend to rip me off on purpose, but for what I paid for the clip and having it be completely worthless to me isnt fair at all, and I would certainly like something to be done.
So what do you guys think? I really really really could use the help! Thanks everyone!

I suppose you'll have to contact OneSlowZ28 and then go from there.

Good luck.

Yes, I've already contacted him and informed him of the problem, but I was hoping that I could get some feedback from members here as far as what they would do.

I'm in no way trying to bash or bad mouth anybody, but I really do want some conclusion to be reached here.

I suggested that he buy back the clip from me, or at the very least buy back the bare clip, since I have no use for it whatsoever.

Ok, since you have already "confronted" him about it what conclusion did the two of you come up with???

I assume you are not happy with the result since you posted him up here.

I would try and work something out with the seller and if not, sell it and cut your losses.

i hate to say it but that's the risk you take buying stuff off the internet.you can't always take someones word that what they are selling is what they say it is.i've had that happen a couple times at swap meets.the guy selling it said it came off "whatever" and it looked like the part i was looking for but ended up not being what i thought.
all you can do is try to find out exactly what it was built for and try to sell it.
i know it sucks but that's how it goes.

Contact Wayne Due and give them the specs and find out what it is for.

Well, I have contacted him, but so far the only suggestion he has for me is to sell it and cut my losses, which is not something I'm going to do. Losing a few hundred bucks because it's inconvenient to someone else doesn't make sense to me.
The main reason I'm posting this thread is because I'm not willing to wait around on any of this, and feel that if this entire process goes through in public, that it will hopefully go smoothely.

Regardless of that, I'm not willing to cut ANY losses. Consumer protection laws apply to all sales for any advertised goods, whether it's a private seller or through a big name brand website.

OneSlowZ28 seems like a straight up guy, so I really hope we work something out soon.

I suggest working this out if at all possible with the other forum member. If that doesn't work, try selling the unit, then trying to work out something with the other member.
Either way, this thread doesn't need to be ironed out in public, and I am going to lock it now. If you can not resolve it, pm me or another mod and we will reopen it for you and he to post a response and side. Then we will lock it again. These just never work out being argued about in public. I hope you understand.
