I have a 1970 novaI originally planed to go with galaxy silver with light spiral gray racing strips but not sure if that is what I want to go with. I like the silvers on the Merc. and bmw but not sure what color to go with for racing strips I want them to just be visible kinda of like a ghost affect. Any one have any suggestions?

You can go darker or lighter by just a couple shades or evtra drops of toners in the paint. When I sprayed the chevelle using a 3-stage paint, I just used 2 less midcoats. It came out perfect and people barely notice the strips b/c they re so sutle, but when they do its really funny to watch there reactions. Also being that your using silver you can add a little more metallic for your strips. Rendering will run you anywhere from $300- to $1000's but they do help alot with being able to come to a desicion with choices on a car. Well worth the money whatever you pay. Goodluck

When you say racing stripes do you mean SS stripes on the hood and deck lid? What about ghost Nova Ralley or Yenko stripes?:twothumbs

Look at the formula for the color and pick the black (if it has it) or use a black toner, note how much is added, 1 gram of a strong black toner in a quart of unreduced color will make a subtle difference. Take this and spray a test panel with the body color and your stripe color, use a large panel like 24" X 24" so you can really see the colors. I ussually charge about $200 for this, but it gives you a great look at the real colors.
yep. good advice in here.

Check out the Ford Edge vapor silver. Online does not do it justice but see at a dealer and they probably pass you by frequently on the street. Its a rich color.

How about just doing the stripe in a pearl over the silver ...mix a white pearl in with clear and then clear over the whole car after stripes are down.
use a frost blue , or something light to give the ghost effect.
you can add a little or lot of pearl to get the effect you want...
Either way , it wouldnt stand out but in different lighted conditions it would have a nice effect.
