Hello,
New to this forum. I have a 68 Camaro that I have a LS1 w/ 6spd that I plan on putting in the car and was wondering if any body has any experience with installing one and what and where you can get a good stand alone harness. Also if anybody has put one of these combos in there car if there are any helpful things I should know.
Thanks alot!

I'm using a Painless #60507 harness. This is a extra length harness so you can mount the ECM anywhere. I located mine where the rear seat used to be, and the extra length was perfect. Easy install, all the wires and connectors are labeled to keep it simple. You do need to use a 1998 ECM.

I second Speartech. John does outstanding work - he can modify your existing harness or you can buy a complete harness.

Has anybody had any experience with TechRods? They occasionally list harnesses on eBay that are pretty cheap, but look nice.

Do they have a harness for just the engine? Does it connect to the factory harness in anyway? I want to eventually rewire the car, but for now I'd just like to get a standalone harness for the engine to get it up and running.

I also have a speartech, the harness isnt long enough to put the computer in the back seat... but i was able to put it where the glove box used to be with ease.

The harness was clearly labled and easy to use, probably one of the easiest things i have done to the car!! lol

Speartech makes a nice piece. The painless is nice as well, but I don't like having to use '98 pcm. You can't tune a lot of the bells and whistles like that later models.

Speartech hands down, you can get a custom length harness for some extra $$$ just tell them how long you want it.
