I'm pretty sure this question has popped up somewhere before but I couldn't find it so.. I'm asking! I was thinking about picking the power rack and pinion up for my subframe since I wouldn't have to mod the LS1 F body oil pan. I was curious though, what exactly needs to be modified on the subframe to add the front mounted power rack and pinion?

All sorts of stuff. You have to cut a deep trench out for the steering linkage to go to the column, and relocate the sway bar to the rear. The issue I had with the kit was putting the engine that far forward, and the fact that the sway bar was lower than the frame made it a debris catcher when driving.

Even Phil Brewer has given up on that conversion. He's now selling mounts with GM conversion pans.
I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time but that was a long time ago and there are much better options now.
