Hello everyone, my name is nick, im from Quincy,il. Im 17 years old and still in high school. I got a 72 nova a few months ago. i am the third owner. The nova was bought brand new at Mel Bunnell Chevrolet in Pomona,Ca (which if anyone has a Mel Bunnell Chevrolet name plate contact me) the original owner had the car untill 2004, then it went to mississippi, then to illinois.

The Car
all original but the 17 inch american racing torq thrust
350 auto
had a black vinyl top, but was cut off by second owner cause was faded, so he painted the top black

The Plan
Classic Industries 69-71 black seat covers, headliner, vinyl floor
SIRIUS Satellite Radio in glove box
Flowmaster 2.5 inch kit
CPP big brake kit
full Hotchkis kit
paint it back to original code 14 sliver/ with a black vinyl top
and maybe down the road a ls2 engine

Nice car. How much did you pick it up for. What are your ideas for it?

got it for $7000, i dont think that was too bad for a rust free car? i want the interior stock looking with everything hidden, body: stock, suspension: pro touring. once the engine is done( which is last on the list) i"ll give it the sleeper look

Looks like a good running car. Can't wait to see it get worked on. It's nice to see high school kids get old cars to fix up. I drove my 66' Mustang all through high school in much like the state it is now.

nice man! I think the paint looks cool just the way it is but i am into nostalgia hotrods and the like, some people kill for that original "patina".. nice score though..

Nice car man. There are certainly some nice 3rd gen. Novas out there for inspiration.

P.S. You stole it!

i like the paint how it is too. i want the paint to be the last step, which is 4 or 5 years away. but my dad says next year he will pay to paint it.

Sweet Deal! Whatever you do, put that vinyl top back on!
And hit some shows with it - just the way it is!
Fix it as you drive it.

Nice steal. You could of had easily double that in body work on a car not so clean! Quarters and floorpans are expensive. Very nice place to start!

I scared a old lady yesterday asking her if she would sell me her 69 nova. she was the original owner, and only drove it about 500 miles a year. She gave me her number and said maybe by next year she would sell it as she plans to stop driving. This would my nephews a great start.

Keep your car on the road and fix it along the way.

Thats a cool nova!! My first car was a 69 nova 307 w/3 speed on the tree and sidepipes! I picked up the car for 1800.00 back in 1987 my dad paid for half. We drove it home and pulled the 307 and put in a 283 and floor shift. I had more fun in this car over any other car I have owned. I wish I never got rid of it! Good luck! Here are a couple old picts of mine at age 16

That's awesome. Ahhhh the days of youth. Did the same thing once in front of my buddies house, traffic stopped in both directions until the smoke cleared. Not sure if these pictures will get yanked though.

Dude, if the body is solid...DON'T PAINT IT!!! Did you see the feature in PHR called "The Silver Bucket"? The owner cleaned up everything except the body, and the car rocks. It gets so much attention where ever it goes. There was always a crowd around it at Power Tour. Do everything you planned and leave the patina on the car. I think that would be an awsome car. I am totally jealous as well, cause I've been looking for one of those for myself. Compromise. Leave the paint now, do your upgrades, then drive it for a while, then paint it if you must.

I agree, I wish mine looked like that instead of "nasty blue"! Solid buy for 7g's. Once again, wish mine was rust free :hand:.
