OK I have had several people ask me about the Nova Dash so I am going to do a poll to see how many would be intersted in it. If I get enough we will have them built, if I only get a few we may consider hand building a few of them for you guys. We think if we get enough orders we can have them produced if we have to hand build them they will run around $800-1200 depending on options and shape done. We can also sell it in stages as just the blank or all the way to ready for gauges with gauges.

Its all on you let me know

I would be interested..... what do you think the cost would be if you got enough orders?

Dude, that's some serious coin. But you guys do top notch work... :twothumbs

I like the fact that it's steel. It would be awesome if you had a single DIN cutout for a stereo deck. Finish options? Powder coat?

Most Nova guys are cheap @sses, so... price accordingly. LOL! :guilty:

Love the work. Hopefully there is enough interest to get the price down.

Chris,

69LT1Nova does have valid point! I really do like your design (clean and simple), but I can buy a Covan dash complete with six Autometer gauges for about $850.00

Im thinking that is with gauges?

Jason, Nova's are different and yes Nova guys are usually cheap asses! LOL.

If I was maybe 10 years older and not in the process of getting married, I might swing it. That is too much cheese for me.

looks like a very nice piece, It would be a while before I will be at that stage of my project so it wouldn't be an immiediate thing for me. Is that pricing with gauges? if so I think it would sell no problem due to it being a better quality alternative to the covans dash.

How long does it take to make?

Love the design and look, but couldn't fork up that kind of coin either. A sub $500 price tag would make it alot more tempting.....

I dont think they r worth it for that much money, maybe if you throw in the gauges with it

How about offering a kit with all of the pieces ready to weld together less gauges? Ask a reasonable price to cover your time and materials and I think they'll sell. Maybe offer a jig and credit a % of the cost of the jig back once it is returned. You could offer a gauge and wiring kit with an installation template for the guys that want the whole deal but need to do it a little at a time. Nice work though!

A weld up kit is an awesome idea!

Yep... then all of the labor is on the buyer... I would think that all of the pieces cut from a jig could be done for $150 or so. Close to 1k for a dash is overly expensive IMHO

Once the process is down and the templates are made it shouldn't take more than 4 hours or labor.

Camaro and Nova dashes are the same right ????

They are slightly different. The dash pad is different to allow for the camaro to have a clock (the center piece is different)

You can see how the detroit speed version has a different center section to follow the contour of the dash pad

For that money I'll definitely be waiting on Anvil to come out with their carbon fiber piece that will be in the neighborhood of $300

That could be the cost without the gauges. Until you see how these dashes are built, you have no idea how much work they are to make. Until the production numbers are large enough, I'm sure Fesler isn't making more than a few bucks on them. ...and since there won't be many Nova dashes sold (due to low numbers of Nova owners building big dollar cars...compared to Camaro owners) I doubt prices will drop. You have to give Fesler props for even spending his time building these for the Nova guys.

Nice!

Not trying to be a wheeener, but I could have that made locally for less than half that price. It's a nice piece and all, but doesn't justify the cost. I really don't think it comes down to "Nova guys" not spending the coin either. I've never felt that I've cheaped out on my car's components simply because of what it is.The ratio to Camaros being built to Novas has always been steep so making a low demand, niche product for the later would be a waste of time. Only recently have there been some six figure Novas rolled out whereas Camaros of this nature have graced the pages of magazines for decades.

I wouldn't be a buyer since the '68 dash is different and a one year only piece anyway. A very nice product, but in this case time would be better spent on making them for the deep pocketed "must have" guys.

How about making/selling the templates in paper form, that way all the measurements have already been made and it is up to the buyer to transfer to sheetmetal and do the fabrication work.

Nice work. I agree with everyone else... a bit expensive. I have the Covan dash and mine was a piece of crap. I'd be in for sure if they were wern't so much

I love the concept. As far as the nova guys being cheap a$$' thats not completely true. The camaro is so popular because of its racing heritage from drag racing to road racing. Its more of a sporty car. The nova is more like a family car. there just wasnt as many race cars built from novas. I like to refer to my 72' nova as "family touring" Im not saying that to insult my nova but there seems to be more room in my nova than in my 67' camaro. I will do most of the suspension mods that DSE offers this winter but i want the car to ride nice but handle well also. As far as the dash goes, I want one but i need to know the price first. I have always used auto meter gauges in most of my rides and this dash would be sweet in my nova.

No they are not even close and we make the Camaro one as well but that will be for another post. I am trying to see if there is a market to go further with these. I know there is on the Camaro but not sure for the Nova.

Yeah but we all know how the Covans part fits, that is why we build this one the customer could not stand the Covans part so now he is out even more.

How long does it take to make?

The first one has about 10-12 hours in it and if you do the math they cost a fortune to make. I know at that price I cannot sell them to very many people. That is the reason for the post if we have enough ideas here to get them out we may consider going forward with them. Poll is almost done so we will see and from there I can figure if I can build you guys a cool part for less money. I need numbers to get them down.

Problem with this is if it is not put together right it will all come back on us saying we sell crap. Not saying that all of you cant do this because I am sure a lot of you can but there are a few that would mess this up and you can already see the post on that. :enguard:

I'm just spitballin', but I hate my Covan insert on my 67 Nova. Hate it. I always thought I might get around to replacing it with an aluminum sheetmetal version.

Chris, any thoughts about us 66-67 Nova guys?

By no means are they easy to make, at least not the first one. I built my own without good metals brakes and it took me around 25 hours. Metal is the way to go, nice and sturdy.

I would be interested in buing templates and instructions on how to make. For someone with moderate metal experience, that could be something they could make..... it seems like at least.

Nice piece though.... I am interested when the time comes. Not sure at that price, but if it was lower like what has been mentioned.
