Engine Mounted but have misc problems

I test fitted my motor and I cant get both of the mounts to line up with the holes on the subframe. I tried absolutely everything but its off by about 1/2 inch. It wont go any lower since its hitting the poly engine mount.

I am using Prothane mounts on S&P plates.

Next problem... The tranny is very crooked in my trans tunnel. I cant even get my ATS crossmember to bolt on. Its off to one side instead of being right in the middle. Is this normal or is my subframe missaligned somehow?

I had the same problem in my Ventura (Nova). I had to change the frame stands. It still took alot of prying and grunting. As for the tranny problem it sounds like one of your engine plates is on incorrectly or upside down. Just my guess without seeing it. The frame stands I used came from Classic Ind. part #3955184(RH) and 39551183(LH) that is ,however, the Nova #'s. Hope that helped. Larry :hammer:

Yeah I used ATS mountes and the SBC mounts need to be installed upside down (i think). I used the poly mounts as well. I also put on new frame stands. I had to loosen my frame stands to get my engine to sit down.

Do you mean the poly mounts that bolt to the lsx conversion mounts need to be put on upside down? I checked and they can only go one way.

Realistically I only need the engine to go down another 1/4" but for some reason it wont budge . arrrggggggg

I guess I can try loosening my frame stands but I dont think they will bolt back up all the way since I cant get it on with them tight in the first place. I check subframe align,ent and i seen good there. Cant figure out why my motor is crooked.

Duh you're right they have studs on them mounting them to the ATS plates haha. It was a few months ago when i did mine.I left the SBC mounts a little loose and i left the frame stands loose. Mine was off by about a half inch. I also had to bend the SBC mounts to get them to go around the frame stands for some reason.

When I first put my engine in the motor mount on the engine hit the lower corner of the frame stand. By changing to the smaller(lower) frame stand I had the room to fit the bolt through the mount hole.With the taller frame stands it seemed as if the bolt holes were closer together.(center of left frame stand hole to center of right frame stand hole) I hate to say it, but you may have to change stands. Trying to mount the stand to the engine first and then trying to mount to the subframe was a pain in the behind. The mounting bolts are near impossible to reach with the motor hanging from a hoist. There are a few different motor mount towers. One set is big block and Z28 towers, I believe they set the motor lower in the car for hood clearance for the big block and cross ram manifold on the Z28. The other set is standard small block towers. The towers are different heights and widths front to rear. There are a few differnent mounts made to fit these towers. Make sure you have the correct mounts to match the towers. If you go to energy suspensions website you can look up and get the measurements on the mounts. If you are running the plates and towers upside down like ATS or Autokraft you have to have a portion of the mount cut off to fit over the towers.

Actually it was easy. I just loosened the drvr side frame mount and there was just enough play in there for it to bolt right in with no problems. Woohoo....:twothumbs
