Hello all,

Introducing "OveŽŠlock" Since I'm into computers. (Former 4 Years and Couting)
Definition for all those not into computers! (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=overclock)

I have been on the board for some time and never posted anything, just reading and learning. I thought it was time to chip in and introduce myself and my 67 Camaro.

I have painstakingly assembled the car from a complete tear down to what it is today in my garage.

****UPDATE****

Well after many months of planning I finally bought a motor and installed it. I would have had it in sooner, but forum member (Saunacrank) ripped me off from a BRP install kit So I had to order one from BRP.

Rearend: Moser M9 55" powerdercoated. Installed Moser 31 nodular 3.90 True track and supports. Bear 13" sports slow it down. Air-Ride rear with coil overs.

Front end: GW uppers and QA1 coil overs, Del-a-lum arms and body mounts. All items powder coated, including front clip and inner fenders.

Body: Complete tear-down, sand blasted, POR15 under and over.

Engine: Ls2 with LS3 topend. TSP Heads, SS valves and LS7 components. 228R-112 Cam, LH8 pan setup. T56 from GTO. Much more!

More updates coming soon! but here are some pics.

Depends on the setup you have up front, but take note the pan sticks out about 2" below the cross member. I'm going to have a skid plate made to help protect it.

Hello all,

I have been on the board for some time and never posted anything, just reading and learning. I thought it was time to chip in and introduce myself and my 67 Camaro.

Over the past couple years I have slowly and painstakingly assembled the car from a complete tear down to what it is today. My most recent purchase was a complete rear and g-bar setup from GP Superstore and they have been helpful and very informative. Just bought a rear brake setup to finish it off and it should be off for paint.

More pics soon!
sounds like how my project will be. i also got my g-bar from frank at gp superstore he is a really good guy to do business:1st:

Project updates.

I have been hooking up the Hydroboost, radiator and gastank. finished the motor for now. I was able to get with Mast Motorsports and received one of the first sets of L76 fuel rails. I promptly order all pluming parts and got everything installed.

I plumed 8AN all the way back for future builds like force induction.

Radiator- I order the Entropy setup for Automatic. I really impressed with the build quality and workmanship. All the bolts that hold the fan setup together use the same Stainless hardware that I'm using on the engine, great product for the money. I'm using the Trans cooler to cool my PS and Hydroboost setup. With the Entropy radiator, the transcooler is located on the drivers side so it makes it easy to plumb in.

More to come!

Stuff is coming together, I installed the Enropy Radiator, Spectra Gas tank and other parts. One of my favorites is the Polished and ported TB from Janzter, I took awhile but I got it the other day and installed it with the 1- 1/8 Willwod master cylinder. Finshed up some plumbing, but have more to go.

You do nice work it looks great. Who's motor mout kit is that. and how much did it push the engiine back ?

SSable
03-15-2009, 12:30 PM
It's BRP's, How much from stock I'm not exactly sure, but it's close to it. It's not as far back as the ATS kits I think. My only concern is that the Oil pan clears the rack and Pinion and leaves sufficient clearance for the intake/MAF setup and Fans.

It's been a year since I posted any update! It was a tough year, but things are looking up! PAINT as begun! We have taken the car apart and focused on each piece for perfection. Our first assembly was to get the lines perfect and even throughout. Now each piece is sprayed with 3 prime build coats with blocking in between and a dark blue seal coat before the base black. we are consistent at 3 base and 3 clear coats. We have done some cutting and buffing, but we are waiting for finally assembly.

Progress is being made everyday! All parts that can be taken off the main body have been painted. Now too the most difficult! all metal imperfections have been accounted for and now it's to finishing details in the lines and flow. Several blocking sessions and re-coats expected. Almost there! Vintage Air and interior ready to install.

It's hard to believe but this car has been in build mode for 8 years. Took 3 years off getting my family started and moving from house too house. With that in mind, it's very easy to forget every detail you have done to the car, including the first attempts at body work and patching. Well the old work showed it's ugly head with some long disgusting stress cracks and it left me scratching my head... what the hell was I thinking? The car is in it's final primer coats and it's unconventional to take so many steps back this late in the game... but it is what it is. It needs to be right! Whats an extra couple hours???

IT'S ALL BLACK! Finally after all these years looking at gray and rose it's all one color. now the hard stuff with sanding and buffing. My painter and I have had some interesting problems with PPG paints and dimples. PPG put out a product to limit them but they still occur. Its only in the clear not the base or seal coats and they start to form about 10-20 minutes after spraying. We end up putting a drop of clear in the dimple and sanding it, but it's still a pain! The below pictures are raw and one of them is the sail panel passinger side that has got some sanding love and buffing. More pictures to come!

I'm new to this board because this is my buddy's car. Justin has been working a long time on this thing, taking it slowly and doing it right. I just wanted to say congratulations, the car is finally coming together. You've worked very hard on it and it looks great. Proud to say I've shed some knuckle skin on it as well as getting a transmission fluid bath lying underneath. Can't wait to see this thing hit the road.

Yes in the garage. my painter has a huge blower fan with filters on it that pulls air our the opposite side through the wall and vented out.(you can see it in the first color black pitcure with boxes on the top.) he also has a wall curtain to help decrease area for better CFM. Works well and with great prep...flawless.

Brief check of history!. Back in the day when i first unloaded the camaro for the first time, I had large assperations... ever-changing thoughts on how i wanted my first year camaro to be. I knew in the elite class of restores it need to be strait and with crisp lines. The funny thing after 8 years of building, I never really understood the complexity and determination it took to make it right, no matter the fabrication that occurred. Think back, remember the car commercial when rolling a ball bearing down a Lexus hood gap line was considered a feat of engineering! after thinking a little more... I realized that it's the conception of what you feel is right. Back in 2003 here is my vision and it's carried on to today. What do you see?

Project update-
After several months in paint...much to do. Cleaning and re-polishing oxidated metals and dust. I have spent the last couple weekends cleaning and painting the trunk and internal panels. The vintage air install has started and bulkhead installed. Coachworks gas cap and rear taillights installed. just need to finalize steering linkage and fab up brackets for AC compressor before front sheetmetal can even think of going on. More coming this weekend!

Have a full day of stuff to do. last couple days finished the hard wiring for the battery in the trunk and master cutoff. I found out that my fuel pump went south while attempting to start it, so new tank is in the works. I was planning on ordering the flush mount windows, but that will need to wait. Friday I dropped off the back seats to have recovered, depending on the quality of work will determines if i take them the front seats. Still have some cleaning to do, but the goal this weekend is to have the steering finished and AC brackets fabed up. Pictures tonight!

To start out... kind of disappointed that some vendors didn't care to have an Independence Day sale this week. Would have been nice since have much to order. Just saying. :usa:

I spent some time finishing the trunk still have some minor wiring to do but it's done. I found some areas of minor over-spray on the frame and buffed them out, gotta love powder coating! spent a couple hours on the AC compressor mount and got it to fit! I ended up having to mod the stock mount and build my own brackets to draw it closer to the block. I was first concerned about bolt alignments and using them as guide to get the right pitch for the compressor then also keep and eye on the centerline for the crank pulley and refrigerant ports. It took several spot welds and re-spot welds to get it right. The top bracket is rough in the pictures but I'm really happy with the look. I can't stand the compressor or alternator over the valve cover. Pictures below! Happy 4th everyone! 235 years!!!

Plans for the weekend are obvious! finish the work on the AC bracket and paint it. I tried to start the car and found out the fuel pump is bad. Did some looking around and found several posts about the Spectra tanks fuel issues. When this tank first came out back in 2008 it was a great alternative to a higher end units like Ricks or Rock Valley. Well after several years, issues with pump came forward and now its not such a good fit for my ride. The replacement pumps are rated too low for the amount of flow I need so I will replace the pump and put it up for sale if anyone wants it. So... time to bite the bullet and bone up for a really nice tank that will support around 600HP. I ended up calling Hector @ Ricks tanks for his opinion and we agreed on the new VaporWorx setup. I did some research before calling about this setp and it looks trick, plus it only needs one line to the fuel rails. NICE! Needless to say its on the way. I also called Vintage Air and ordered all the AC lines needed to finish the engine compartment. So my goal this weekend is to finish detailing the engine, mount the steering column and fix the linkage to the rack and pinion, then maybe hange some sheet metal next weekend! More to come with the some pictures.

Well you know how it goes sometimes, you have a plan and it never works out. I did however get allot done, just added a few things to the list.

This took some time but it looks great! Polished everything that oxidized back to its original look. just a note for those about to paint and have aluminum, etc around make sure you take some time covering it up and sealing it the best you can. Todays paints are very caustic and the fumes will make quick work oxidizing your bullet. (Note the AC compressor bracket, DONE!)

Took some time and blew apart the alternator for paint.

Good news and Bad. The bad first, still working on the AC lines. Waiting a few parts missed in the order for vintage air. Looked at the steering linkage, but have yet touched it. The good, my gas tank is on the way and I ordered all new windows, including a set of flush mounts. Can't wait to put those in!

So much to do It's just daunting! Working on it as i can. I received the flush Mount windows today and kind of disappointed that not all of the kit was there. Check on the Glass and sealant but no foam strips, trim or instructions. I'm not really the one to complain, but spending the amount of money I did for these I would expect everything to show up. Carpet arrived and have made several stops at Camaro Concepts for misc items. I'm expecting ricks tank to be here Friday as well as all the fittings and filters needed. Plans to fire it up again this weekend! Finish wiring in the front grill and mounting an Anvil CF front spoiler.

Need some suggestions on an HID setup. Fesler?

The filter that is in the module is the only one that is installed in both the Camaro and the CTS-V. No other external filters are used, and GM offers a 100,000 mile warranty on these new cars. They are a heck of a lot smarter than I am so I'll plagiarize their work. I'd send the other filters back. Just be sure to flush the line before final attachment.

The corner pickups use a screen that is used to close a valve when fuel sloshes away. All fuel from the corner pickups goes into the module reservoir where it is filtered before entering the pump. The filter is mounted on the the pump inlet so there is no way that any contamination sucked up by the corner pickups can get in.

More progress. I was able to complete putting together the front end and make some final changes, wiring is done for the most part waiting on headlights and parking lights. Changes included new Anvil parts to spruce up the engine compartment and "OverŽŠlock" image. I had to move the radiator back about 3/8 to allow the closeout cover to fit. I'm really happy with this piece and the lower spoiler as it should also help focus the air through the core support. Working on rear seats and then dash wiring. Most of the wiring is in place and just needs to organized and routed correctly. AC vent hoses will also need to be installed. I received electric life's power windows setup earlier in the week so windows are coming up. I will get the new Gas tank and RB hood hinges/door handles next week to finish the exterior. Picture of the seat progress tonight.

Todays update. GTO rear seat install

Moved to the rear seats today. I know the GTO seat are huge but the backs are bigger! The keys are to be able to remove a couple inches from the back of the bottom seat and several inches from the bottom of the top to make it look proportional but usable. I have no intentions in taking 4 adults for a cruse at the same time. However for a few kiddos or the mother in-law :naughty:, no problem. I want to use the stock mounts and bolt locations so these can be taken out quickly when needed. lets roll with the pics.

PS. Removing the seat skeletons is easy on these seats. I was able to modify the existing framing without major modification to the overall structure.

Yes. Small phillips head. Does it lock the ring?

CarlC
08-03-2011, 07:43 PM
Yes, that's the locking screw for the cam ring.

If you need to re-clock the module a bit to get the outlet pointed straight forward there should be some clearance between the module hat alignment tab and the mounting ring. Remove the screw, loosen the cam ring, re-clock the module, re-set the cam ring, re-install the screw.

I like the rear seats. I'm pondering that mod someday for mine to fit my two young boys.

New side windows are in. I have a little more adjustment left to get them lined up perfect. I love the speed of the Electric window motors, just need to careful as they might be able to do some damage if somethings gets in the way. Its been awhile since the last update because of all the prep work removing the chrome and powder-coating of all pieces. I went with a flat black to match the seals. I really enjoy the vent windows on the 67 but hate how it takes from the lines of the body, I feel this was the best way to make the vertical lines more discrete. I also tinted the windows outside of the car so nothing was missed and film lines are to the edge of the glass. It was also much easier to match the rear flush mount glass tint as well. Flush mount glass is next!

It's been some time since my last update but things have been progressing. Some of the biggest happenings have been tweaking the front and rear suspension to get the ride height right and prepping for tuning and alignment. Here are some of the latest additions and changes.

I want to change the overall mount look of the rear bumper. I feel that it was afterthought back when the Camaro was designed to meet DOT approval. I decided to shorten the length and pull it in closer to the body. The final look will be powder coated flat black to match the tail panel.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/10/113-1.jpg

I wanted more of cleaner look on the rear flush mount glass so I opted to fill in the gap with sealer.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2011/10/114-1.jpg

Lastly, I used the Lokar e-brake setup with the stock foot brake. I was really please how easy it was to put in and how it adapted to the rear Baer brakes e-brake calipers.

Thx Rybar- I got a base tune on it a couple weeks ago but was unable to Wide-band tune it yet due to a hot-start issue. I should be ready to go for a second try in the next week. I will post the Dyno numbers.

Little update. I have committed to the Houston Autorama show this Thanksgiving, so I'm going to finally finish this project this month. I have been enjoying some driving time with it to build some confidence and learn its behaviors. So far i have been very please with minor adjustments to the suspension. Still havn;t had the time to wideband on the dyno to get it's numbers, but it will happen soon. Interior is shaping up and started on the console. Picks coming.

I was unmotivated to work in my car, after reading every post and analyzing every picture, you have managed to get me going again. Thank you! Your car is P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

Would you mind posting where and how you did the flush mount windows?

Thanks all for your compliments. It's been a long road but take your time and do it the way you feel is right. No shortcuts! just take your time and think about it.

The flush mount setup is close to a basic window install. The pros can knock it out quickly, but I'm no pro. The key is to make sure you get enough seal down to lift the window up to the flush point. One trick I used was to make tall pucks of seal on the corners and middle of the glass and let dry, then use a razor blade to trim it down. Keep in mind that the window needs to flex a little to form right with the body, so place your pucks on the ends with only one in the middle. I mounted the window several times to get the height right. I even had to reapply some and wait till the next day to make sure it was right. Then when you apply the sealer go over the height of the puck by a 1/4" to make the seal, apply light pressure to set the height. The next challenge is to make sure align the window right as you have little room for adjustment once you place it in with sealer. During the last test fits I used painting tape with sharpie marks on the body and window to make sure it's aligned right. I had a buddy help with window suction cups to place it in. We did a couple practice runs before we applied the sealer to get motion right for correct placing. Use ample amounts of painting tape to avoid getting seal on the edges. Hope this helps!

Well I have tinkered with making my own console or finding one that will work for some time. After looking online for pictures for ideas I found a suitable console out of the 79 Camaro with an auto trans that I liked. I ended up finding one locally on craigslist for $100 in great shape. I was able to make some adjustments quickly to the alignment, but it fits great on the trans tunnel and lines up with the dash panel with a little angle away from my right leg. I have since reinforced the inside with steel bar and welded it all up to the existing mounts supporting the shifter and arm rest. I cut holes for window/lock switches and a mount for the Informant system. I picked up some leather covered aluminum panels for the doors and rears and installed the Modo Innovations pedals. I will have some more pictures of the console once it's back from the upholster. I’m also waiting the on door handles from Fesler. Time is ticking on the show!

I saw Overclock at the Autorama yesterday. I was so impressed I had to google it which led me here. If you think it looks good in pics, see it in person. Well planned, well executed...just stunning. Truly my favorite of the show. I thought it would be from a 'name shop' so being able to see the progress of a normal guy build made me join just to give SSable some kudos. Now I'll be up all night looking through the rest of the forum.

I was a very successful campaign and saw some great cars. Project Overclock took 2nd Place Outstanding in Mild Hardtop. I believe there were about 15 cars in the class. It lost to a Paint House/Sponsor show car. It was a great experience and outcome for a first showing. I plan to make some mild adjustments and additions and enter the Chevy Expo next year. More pictres of the finished interior coming soon!

Majority of the trim pieces are stainless, so you can ruff them up with sandpaper and shot. Parts of the 67 vent window are chrome and will need to be de-chromed, which any chrome shop can do. Make sure you find a quality powdercoater as it take skill to put just enough down to prohibit any chipping and texturing.

Beautiful car and very tastefully done. I appreciate you sharing among other things, the wheel/tire size, backspace and axle width. I have two more questions about that since a 345 has to be a tight fit even with trimmed lips and mini tubs. 1. How much clearance do you have between the inner sidewall and the tub? 2. Does the rear tires ever rub say when you roll the suspension going through a dip or turning into a steep driveway?
Thanks again and congrats on a great build!

Thank you sir, If i remember right i have 1.5-.75 clearance from the inner well. Yes, you will impact your inner well on a hard roll on a steep driveway if your height is not set correctly. It all depends on your suspension setup. I would suggest looking at airbags if you have varying weight and/or lower stance preference with running such a large tire.
