not an update but curious any on here build the owe subframe for a early camaro lookin to use the original sub as a base for the project...
any pics of the modified subframe? that u did

I built my own frame from sratch and my best advises is save your money and buy one some else builds. It sounds like fun to do it your self, but unless you are a professional fabricator an engineering and have unlimited time. It will be faster and easer just to buy one.

You could look for the video from the tv show "Musclecar" where lou modifies a 1st gen subframe... that would be a great way to modify your stocker to fit modern accessories without getting in over your head :)

We modify factory frames all the time. Here is a great build thread to see some pics of it:

Here are a few pics of the process:
We start with a factory frame and blast it to bare metal:

Then we put it in a jig, grind out all the old welds, and re weld the entire frame from to to bottom:

Then for this car we converted the frame to a coil over with remote reservoirs.
