I'm going to run 17x11s in the back- minitubbed w DSE kit & std (maybe) axle width & Baer track brakes. Anyone running anything similar know what backspace gets you close? I'm smart enough to measure my own ride before buying wheels, but I'd just like to see what others have run.

Looking at the database, nobody has this combo listed for 67-68. I'm going with the 3.150 bearings on the axle ends, so I still have the ability to shorten the axle a bit. Anybody have measurements on theirs?

TIA-
Jeff

PS- Besides CarlC, anyone running the 17x9.5s in the front? I think I'm going with the 5.5bs on those.

I am running 17 x 11 with 5 1/2" backspacing. Having my rear end shortened, and mini tub with DSE kit installed.

Thanks fellas- I had measured my (68 Firebird) BS to be either 6.75 or 7.00. I think I'm going to go for a bit less, and shorten the rear axle 1.0/1.5 on either side.

Anybody have any solid flange-flange or rotor-to-rotor measurements?

hey OH, solid for this car I guess:
stock is 60" axle flange to axle flange.
housing flange is 54 1/2"
In this build we modifyed the rear to fit 17x11,5.5bs
The rear end we require is :
axle flange to axle flange is 55"
housing flange to housing flange is 50 1/8"
this is minus the rotor...it depends on the style you use. Baer rear rotors are 3/8" thick. So add 3/4".

I have a 67 Camaro conv. and just installed the DSE minitub kit. I want to keep the rearend stock. Anyone have any pics of what rims they used?

DSE said 17 x 11 with 7 backspacing will work.

What do you think?

If Kyle said they will work, im sure they will, he would know better. What wheels are you going with?

I am clueless on what to go with? Any suggestions?

I would love to see some pics of a 17 x 11 with 7 backspacing to see what it looks like. I kind of like the Budnik Fontana.
What do you think?

JB67, check around with rim makers, some charge extra for custom back space. Check pricing then find a rim that you like.

17x11 can usually be had in a 7"bs w/o any special price.

I'm running 5.5" bs on a 17x11 Fontana. Flange to flange was 52.25" on a DSE mini-tubbed '68.

I'm running Billet Specialties GTX 01's with 4.75 backspace. I think the flange to flange was 52 inches, but I'd have to find the sheet to be sure.

Where are you in NE Florida? I'm in Tallhassee...

I'm over in Jacksonville. LMK if you ever want to try to get some FL guys together.
Thanks Tom for posting a response to my PM... that was axle flange to axle flange (where the disc mounts), correct?

Yes, flange to flange.

OK Tom-

Not to pester, but I guess I should have said "where the wheel mounts". My stock axle is 54.25" from 4 bolt flange to flange- so yours is now 52.25?
