ok guys looking for some input! i just got one of those original barn finds.... its a 1965 mustang convertable it seems to be all original(except the 1" of dust)lol , it is a 289 ,4 barrel, auto, A code car, it is a very restoreable car, the amazing thing is the floors and trunk hood, doors, engine bay are rust free, the car was oil undercoated though out its life, it does how ever need qtrs and 1 maybe 2fenders, and the motor appears to be seized (although i havent put a wrench on it yet) as of right now before i even unloaded it off the ramp truck i was offered $4500 for it ... now im debateing what to do with it? 1 sell as is??2 keep it and restore it ( i own a body shop, but really dont have the time) 3 put in my garage and forget about it till i have more time or offered really good $$$ for it?? any body got a idea what it is worth as is?? problem is im not really a ford or mustang guy...now if it was a camaro or a chevelle.... heres a few pics

work on it when you get a chance, just get the body to be perfect and then sit on it. if you find you have time, work on it and make it a g-machine, otherwise you can sell it when all the body work is done

ya i was looking it over last night and found out the reason the engine is sized is it has a big dent in the oil pan... other tha that it really is a easy resto (for me anyway) all the floors ,torque boxs, rails an engine bay are mint.... still debating tho, i think if i can get the right amount for it its by by other than that i'll probally sit on it for a while

An original 4 bbl car? Cool find. $4500 was a low ball offer, it's worth more than that.
If you need cash it would be a good car to clean and fip but if you don't need the cash and have the room I'd pigeon hole it for a future project or hold as an investment. It won't go down in value.

excellent ebay car
I know i was thinking the same, i could probally clean it for a day , put the hub caps and air cleaner on it and take a zillion pictures and it would look way better and off to ebay................or i could keep it:pat:...but its a ford and m nova would fight with it in the garage... lol

It might be a Ford, but it least it's a cool one. I couldn't let it go that easy and I'm a Pontiac guy.
They're easy to work on and parts are fairly cheap.

does any one know how to tell if this car is was a gt? it seems that it was only painted once and they painted over the gt style strips on the bottom of the fenders doors. ive done all the vin decodeing online and all i come up with is that it is 289 4v a code??? info ive found so far says gt could be A or K code.... anyone??????

HO428 captured my thoughts exactly.

Keep it for your retierment nest egg and keep fixing it up a little at a time.

Sorry I don't know a thing about fords. I mostly see them in my rear view mirror.

I HERE YA!!!!! LOL BUT PEOPLE DO LUV THOSE THINGS.... AT THIS POINT I THINK I COULD RESTORE THIS CAR FOR 5K IN PARTS OR LESS (CHROME,FEW BODY PARTS,MOTOR WORK ETC...) + MY LABOR
ALSO DOES ANYONE KOW HOW I CAN TELL IF ITS #'S MATCHING?? IT ALL LOOKS VERY ORIGINAL AND CORRECT....HEC IT EVEN STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL BLADDER OVER FLOW POUCH!
I AM A CHEVY GUY SO IM A LITTLE NUMB IN THE FORD GAME TOO!

That car looks like it could be a Gt it has the fog lights and the mustang letters low on the fenders. GT badges are missing? Does it have trumpet exhaust through the rear valance and it would have to be a A code or K code 5th# in vin Let us know what you do and if you find more evidence of it being a GT.

yes it is a A code, it does have the fog lamps in the grill and it also has the rear exhaust holes through the rear valance . any other clues???
