Good point. I need to strap the "gorilla racks" in my garage to the walls.

5.8 in Chino Hills, which is east of LA. Two pretty good shakes where I am (farther east), but not enough to knock over anything. The reports coming out of Chino Hills/Diamond Bar didn't sound like there was any damage.

I was driving and did not feel it. Knocked out cell and landlines at the office for a little bit but that's all.

A-OK here. The quake's been downgraded to a 5.4. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/Quakes/ci14383980.php
Let's hear it for building codes. The damage CNN is reporting is limited to "Some stuff was knocked off store shelves in Chino Hills", which is pretty cool.
Of course, there's always the somewhat ominous Aftershock Probability Report - http://www.scsn.org/forecast/14383980.html .

I was going to make a wise-acre comment about where building codes come from, but we'll save that for another time. :enguard:
This hilarious little gem from CNN:
The quake was predicted to occur, according a study sponsored by the USGS published in Science Daily in April. The study had predicted there was a 99 percent chance of California having a magnitude 6.7 or larger within the next 30 years.
So.....you predicted what exactly? Seriously, I don't know how they can consider themselves journalists any longer.

Kinda funny but as soon as it stopped shaking I handed my daughter to my wife and ran out to my garage to see if anything fell on the car. I am right in the middle of moving and there is boxes stacked up all over my garage, thankfully all was well!

Listening to Led Zepplin, and on the internet looking for a certain size Nitto 555, how could get any better than more rocking and a rollin.....:woot:
Just as long as it quit REAL quick, which it didn't...Was afraid of something falling on the Harley in the garage, but everthing stayed in place here in L.A.

I was in Chino Hills at the time of the quake. I was up at the top of a 45 foot power pole. Not a fun time. Power Pole + Earthquake = Bad!

Earthquake? That was no stinking earthquake!
One of my wife's do-dads fell off a shelf and added more character to our distressed wood kitchen floors.
I had to laugh afterward while listening to the news shows when they pontificate, or have so-called experts expound, about earthquakes.
"Are there going to be aftershocks?"
"Is this a pre-shock for the Big One?"
"When is the next one going to happen?"
"Look at all that damage." A 20' section of ancient non-reinforced clay brick wall fell over.
"Earthquakes can cause watermains to break, causing deadly sinkholes."
Give me a break. I just kept whittling away on my radiator hose adapters.

I was just happy that nothing fell on the car in garage. It was the longest lasting quake I have ever been in. I was at work and it took a few minutes for me to decide to casually walk over to the door frame and ride it out.
