Hello Everyone-

I was hoping to get some input on regulating the fuel system on an LS1 swap. I am in progress with a 1979 Malibu LS1/4L60E swap and wondered if anyone has done an in tank regulator for a swap. I have seen the 98 LS1 fuel rail that regulates at engine and a external mount regulator in the engine bay but have yet to see or hear of anyone doing an in tank. I intend to use a 4.3L tbi sending unit and a walboro pump with a 4.3L baffled tank but was not sure if it is possible to regulate that system in tank. Any help/opinion is welcome.

Thanks

I think some of the f-body cars may have had in-tank fuel pressure regulators, but most people who do a LS1 conversion use the corvette fuel filter which has a built in regulator. They are cheap and easy to set up which makes them very nice.

I have not heard of that type of regulation. Could you elaborate on the year/model vette or maybe if you have a link it would be appreciated.

They came on 99 Corvettes

Here is some helpful information , check out post #20

They are around $43 at most parts stores

You will need special quick disconnect fittings to adapt to the 3/8" feed lines and 5/8" return line. They are available from russell performance products.

You'll also need a simple quick-connect for the fuel rail, too.
Russel part number RUS-640850. Note this has a 3/8 NPT outlet.

Hello Everyone-

I have a secondary question with regards to using the 99vette filter/reg. I have an 02 ls1 that has the return line at the engine and since I am using the combo filter/reg the return line will be stopped at the filter and returned back at mid frame where I plan to mount it. Is there any problem with just capping the old return line at the engine or will it cause issues by doing it this way? I will take some photos and have them up later.

When using the Russell adapters you will need to file down the body of each one to get them to fit. The center-to-center distance of the filter ports is too close for the Russell parts to fit without interference.

Can you remove the regulator and cap that off as well? It should not be a problem since there is no ECM feedback. You may also find a single-line feed from an '04 GTO that will work.
