Thinking of getting rid of my car (too many miles) and I want a chevrolet truck of some sort, I have my eye on a 2003 4 cylinder s10 with 45,000 miles for just under 10,000 bucks or a 2003 full size with a 5.3l. with 60,000 miles for 7900 bucks, I dont commute that far but $4.30 a gallon is spendy. I think a 5.3 is way funner but is it worth it? WHAT DO I DO? https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/07/7658741326247224688IM1MAIN565x421_A-1.jpg

That depends on what your needs are. The Extreme S10 drives very well, it's just smaller. If you need to haul big stuff, the fullsize. The S10 should get quite a bit better gas mileage.

that seems a little high for an s-10. for the value, i'd say fullsize, as you can haul more projects/parts with it than you could with the s-10. if the s-10 had the 6cyl, it would be nicer, but the 4cyl is only good for one thing...gas mileage, it doesn't have a lot of power...just my .02

Don't worry, gas prices will not go up anymore.

Full size. The $2100 difference in purchase price will buy you A LOT of gas. You will have a lot more fun with the LS motor, and there is more aftermarket support for full size trucks than S-10s.

FULLSIZE all the way. S10's donot usually get the mileage you would like and it is not worth it to go smaller. I rebuilt one once and it was one of the regrets I have in life. My old 77 c10 that cost me 3k has been more economical over 8 yrs than the S10 was in 3 and can haul a lot more payload and people. Ever try to get 3 people in an S10?

WHAT DO I DO?
Well for starters you gotta get out of that Care Bear costume........ LOL.
I have a full size with the 4.8 engine, and I've been very pleased with it. It's mileage is acceptable in town (if you keep your foot out of it) and very good (for a truck) on the highway. If you have any intentions of hauling "stuff", then you will definitely want the full size.

price is high on the s10 the full size for 79 with a 5.3 isn't bad but if you have to drive alot buy the s10 i have a 01 4cyl with a 5speed get 31 to 33 not trying. but there isn't alot of power and wont really even pull a bike trailer

s10 with a 5.3 swap will be most fun, AND best gas mileage

Full size.
I had a 98 S10 SS for about a year & it was a pain if we went anywhere. Not very much room in the cab, especially for me, 6'3". Then I bought a 97 Silverado, loved it.
