Hello. I am building a 1969 Camaro that will have a twin-turbo small block chevy that is capable of producing 1200+hp and 1000+lb.-ft of torque. I need to know that manual tranny will handle this kind of power. The car will mostly be street driven but it will also se occasional road race events. I want a 6-speed, but a 4 or 5-speed would be O.K. I just would like to find a tranny that will handle the output of the engine, has an overdrive gear (not a necessity), and will not be overly harsh on my wallet (THIS IS A NECESSITY)! help please.

If you are building a 1200+HP twin turbo, then budget can't be too much of an issue. Transmission life is inversely proportional to the cars weight, power and traction.

Call D&D transmission, tell them your goals and they will let you know if it's possible.

Then get out the gold card and call Jericho

You should investigate a late model computer controlled automatic and a column-mounted paddle shifter. See details here (http://www.twistmachine.com).

It's the only cost-effective way I know to handle that much power and still shift manually.

A jericho can do it. I've heard of t-56's handeling power like that with easy driving.

A 4l60e couldn't handle that, even built. A 4l80e might (I don't know as much on those)....but I think those are the two electronic ones that could work with the shrifter....I wouldn't get my hopes up on that.

Use the Jerrico as a last resort, see my other post below. For your setup, get a Gforce T56 with ALL OPTIONS and a carbon-carbon clutch (you'll have about 8k in this setup).

Still, if you're hard on it, you'll break it.
