i'm working on wiring up my electric fans on my car. it says to send the positive cable to the pos. post on the battery and the negative to the neg. post on the battery. here's my dilema...my battery is in the trunk. i have a terminal/post up front for the pos, but not the neg. my question is, can i hook up the neg to the same place i have my motor grounded to the frame? or do i have to run a 20ft+- piece of 12 gauge wire all the way to the trunk. i know its a silly question, but i really don't know. i don't see why it would matter, but just want to make sure before i fry something. thanks for the input.

You can ground it to the frame or motor as long as your battery to frame ground is solid. Just make sure you use the appropriate sized grounding wire for the amperage draw of your fans.
Your positive lead for your fan should be connected to your splice even if the battery is in the trunk. It is normally located under the voltage regulator connected to the horn relay. And any ground will work it doesn't have to be the battery. I'm sure you are using a relay but if you are not it is something you will want to mention to someone before hooking it up. Do you have any specifics about the car it looks very nice.

i have my positive hooked up to the bulkhead connector thats connected to the positive post of my battery. i hooked up my neg. to the ground that i have the block grounded to.
