Does any one how far down the Hooker LSX swap headers hang below the frame rail? Like many of our cars this one will be low and I hate when headers hang down. Pictures would be awesome if available!!

Here are 2 pics. I think the headers tuck as well as you can expect from full tubes. I am very happy with the way they fit.

It appears that about 1 full tube hangs below the frame, would this be about right?

i will look at mine and tell you. i need to raise my tailshaft up some so mine may be a little lower then most. the tranny is only 1/8" from the tunnel so any higher and i have to mod the tunnel. i used the hooker mounts too.

Great thanks. I will be using the ATS mounts so I am just trying to get an idea if this is a good route for road clearance of if I should just use manifolds.

The hooker headers are going to hit the steering box with ATS mounts. You will have to "ding" the headers in multiple places. If in the budget go with ATS headers.

Not true. I used te ATS mounts with hooker headers and they fit fine. Dropped in from the top with no problems. I dinged the one primary just for added clearences but was not necessary

How about Stainless Works headers? I already have a set of them also.. Anyone know the fitment on these?

i would buy a matched set of headers and mounts. the mismatched stuff always has dings and issues. While i like the ATS stuff my wallet liked hooker.

BTW i really like the F85. i have my wife set on a F85 vert!!!

If you have a 600-series steering box the tube mods may not be needed.

The bottom of the header is approximately 1" below the frame rail.

I have a set of Hooker Super Comp conversion headers that a had on my 69 Camaro. There wasn't a problem with their height compared to my ATS headers that I have now-they are really low slung, BTW the Hookers are JET-HOT coated , less than 350 miles on them and for SALE.

Are you saying your ATS headers hang down a lot??

Not likely. I'm thinking the Hookers were lower than ours are.

Does anyone know if the Hooker headers will fit with the S&P mounts and stock PS box or do I need the S&P headers.

Are you feeling lucky are my toughts with hooker.

Received the first set and the quilty was very poor but since I had them I did a test fit.Fit was Great on both sides min of 1/2 clearance every where.Received the 2nd set quilty was much better. On installing them in the car nothing but fitment problems on both sides. RH side hit the starter heat shield and the end of the controll arm.LH side hit the streering box.

$600. and I have to hit them with a hammer!! Next car I'll be looking at other options.

Car is a 72 nova/ls1/hooker mounts

Hey Tyler is there any other headers (for those of us that cant afford 3k) that will fit a stock steering box with your mounts and crossmember?
