A '72 Grand Prix is an A-body, so Chevelle lowering springs will work.

Yup, 72' GP is a "stretch A" body, so any suspension parts for 68-72 "A" body GM cars will work. Keep in mind that the factory springs for the GP are already lowered about 1 1/2" and are higher rate as well.

Ok lets try to keep in mind that it was a long time ago and I was very young...so go easy, please? :nopity: If you ask about this in person, I will deny everything...
A friend and I built a Grand prix low rider with hydraulics. With a big hydro car you want to try to have as much spring as possible. We reinforced the frame and we added cups to the upper frame and lower arm to house the spring and ram.It was mounted in a hole in the upper cup. It might apply to your car. A 1" cup will lower the car 2". Ours were made of 1/4" steel but you maybe able to use 3/16".

The 72 Grand Prix is a G body... but it's really just a stretched A body. Confused? The first G bodies were really just A body 4 door frames with the body pushed back on the frame and the difference made up in longer front sheet metal. They also used a notch back roof. The Olds Cutlass Supreme body is a G body body on an A body frame (just to make it a little more confusing). In the end however, none of this matters for the suspension. It's still an A body frame.
Just as an aside, the 80's G bodies were called G bodies because of their notch back roof as well. The 80's Malibu and it's Pontiac sister were really called A bodies, but for the sake of the suspension, they shared the same frames with their G body counterparts.
